I really want to see this again. I really liked it. Most people I've talked to in real that that have seen it enjoyed it as well. I have a theory that there's a sweet spot for this audience with people that know enough about DC to know the characters and their motivations from the comics who are able to fill in some backstory themselves in their mind and aren't too heavily into DC lore or just a ho-hum comic book fan. I could be way off base though.

Everyone who has seen the movie already you should check out episode 11 of this podcast Episodes They go into hype and critic reviews and how good or bad BvS is. I wasn't a huge fan of the movie, but it was better the second time I saw it and I think that was due to the hype the first time I saw it. (first time was at a screener and for a few hours my friends and i were talking about the movie and all things comics so we were getting so amped up)

I don't think that's really it. More so, I think the story is crap, but varying degrees of fervent fandom can cover over a multitude of sins. I think Kevin Smith called it the Parademon Theory: After getting over the film's flaws, when he saw the Parademons in the dream sequence, which he never expected to see on the big screen, nothing else mattered. Batman looks like the comics. He fights Superman. They team up with Wonder Woman against Doomsday. It's a hot mess, but it's also all of these things that some people have loved for years and years finally appearing on the big screen, and there's something magical about that. If I had been 30 before a Spider-Man film had been made, I probably would have forgiven Tobey Maguire and cried happy tears at finally seeing him in a movie.

Snyder has said this was a movie for hardcore fans, being a huge comic fan himself. I went into this expecting more focus on the themes and less focus on building the characters themselves, and that's what I got. Of course, a lot of hardcore fans hated this so.. ha

In JL news, Larry Fong (cinematographer) won't be coming back due to scheduling conflicts. Fabian Wagner (Game of Thrones, Sherlock, DaVinci's Demons) will be DoP.

Beyond that, there's a bunch of things the movie did well -- action, music, mood, Batman. The divide hinges on the number of people willing to overlook the bad for the good.

I just listened to the Kevin Smith podcast yesterday. While I'm not as big a fan as he is (parademons meant nothing to me) I feel about the same as he seemed to overall

They tried saying on the radio this morning that Suicide Squad is a direct sequel to Batman v Superman. Ugh.

I would interpret that very loosely

I'm really surprised WB or Snyder didn't release any Justice League pics today.

    Filming is now underway.

    Be my alibi?

I've had a few weeks to digest this and I enjoyed it, didn't love it, but it was good. I think my biggest issue was that there were promises of surprises yet to come that weren't revealed in the trailers....which was a lie. Unless I missed some mystery box item. The story could of been told better, most particularly Superman picking and choosing who to save and him struggling with the fact he can't save everyone and is being held accountable/blamed for that. Batman's hatred would of been better portrayed if Bruce Wayne was shown trying to bring Superman to justice for his actions in man of steel and his inability to do so angered him enough to let Batman become justice. I know I'm nit picking, but Bruce Wayne allowing his parents grave/tomb fall into ruins just didn't make sense to me. Lex Luthor reminded me more of what I'd picture the Riddler to be and Jesse Eisenberg didn't really come off as a silicon valley genius spoiled brat who never lived up to daddy's expectations, which is what I'm guessing they were aiming for. They had a chance to show his desire for power by means of feeding the war machine, but didn't.

The only thing that really has my interest moving forward though is how Superman is going to be done. I've never known Superman to ever exist without Clark Kent, Superman's death isn't surprising and the reason for Clark Kent dying makes sense since his secret identity was blown. But with such a public burial of Clark Kent with his body makes it next to impossible for him to come back and fool everyone by "being on assignment" somewhere else instead of him being assumed to be collateral damage from Superhero fall out. Also his death has very little meaning for the story, if they would have made him a better savior of the world that people were taking for granted it would of had more meaning, especially at the end of the film if the dirt rising was hinting at a new alien visitor instead of SM not really being dead ending with a "who will save us now" montra

It will also be interesting to see how Terrio does being the only screenplay writer listed for Justice League and writing an interesting story on the ground work for which the Justice League is formed.

What's going on with the Shazam movie? It is he gonna be involved with the JL movie? I feel like it's been over two years since the Rock said he's playing Black Atom.

I think he's separate from JL, though I'm sure still in the same world. I think it has a date. 2019?
