I randomly found PBC this year...after I lived in Rochester for 2 years.

Why didn't I listen to them earlier :(

Don’t know if ‘faded away’ is the right term for this, but in the late 90’s The Moffatts released a follow-up album called Submodalities that’s like, actually, a really good pop rock record.

I don’t know if the were licensing problems that limited its exposure in the States, or if they just found greater success elsewhere, but I remember this record getting a big push in Southeast Asia when I moved there as a kid.

In a very similar vein, at around the same time in the same part of the word, The Bee Gees also put out an album that rode the 90’s pop rock train that was also pretty solid...

What ever happened to For The Foxes, the band that was signed to Hopeless Records back in 2012-ish? I can't find any information anywhere on the internets.

Good question! I forgot all about this band...Looks like the lead singer is doing his own musical thing as "JaJaBu" now, one of them is a computer/software specialist of some sort, and the other two are just being jerks on Twitter. Not sure what happened to the band.

Also my contribution is Men, Women and Children. Talk about a band that was a little too early. Still love their album.

I was thinking about The Secret Handshake awhile ago because “Summer of 98” is a catchy song.

Come to find that he is the Mystery Skulls dude, doing songs with fuckin Nile Rodgers. Wild shit

FWIW their bassist Buddy is on a TLC reality show now (just googled for a link and apparently he went to rehab & is in recovery)

What a disappointment that band was. They had so much potential to come out with as spotty a discography as they did.

That’s really sad to hear if true!
Mable was really great and also kind of underrated i guess?

It's definitely true, their drummer (who is now the drummer of Joyce Manor btw) said it in an interview like last week. Apparently the lead singer thought it was getting too intense. Too bad, they were a great band.

I was just listening to Annuals the other day.

That's another band that just up and disappeared...then they put out a really good album a few years later...

...and then they've been quiet since.

If you didn't know, Blair (the founder of The Jealous Sound) just started a new band called Racquet Club a while back and put out a full-length album in 2017.

    A little post-from-long-ago update.

...and now back to our regularly scheduled whatever!

Oh, shit. I've got a couple more.

Banner Pilot - "Souvenir" plopped out and they just disappeared.

The Wooden Birds - They released "Two Matchsticks" and then someone made a music video for them a year later. I know Andrew did some American Analog Set stuff again not long ago. He then vanished. I love both those bands.

Anyone remember White Wives? It was Chris and Chris from Anti-Flag plus a some other guys. "Happeners" blew my head clean off.

The Weakerthans/John K Samson. Last I saw, John toured with Craig Finn and then just dropped off the earth.

I can't promise this isn't my new normal: yelling into the dark about amazing artists who are no longer around/active.

    Crash of Rhinos...fuck.

Luther's "Let's Get you Somewhere Else" still murders me.

Lykke Li. That last record didn't work for me - it felt like all ballads - but Youth Novels and Wounded Rhymes changed my brain. Apparently she's now part of a group called "liv" that has released four singles (thanks Wikipedia).
