DJ Bonkers sounds like something a 13 year old calls himself after turning on auto mixing in Spotify

Lol in the podcast he said the reason why to have local djs is because you don’t have to pay them. Guess he has to get to 100 “artists” somehow. Also, what is the logic behind a hoard of djs? Who is going to go out of their way for a no name dj at a festival? Guess someone has to supply the music to the breakdance competition

No way he said this and then announced the DJs! That's a slap to the face to all of them

man it's so embarrassing. I can't stop thinking about how bad the design for everything has been too. if they just hired a decent graphic designer from the jump it would make this fest look way more palatable. it wouldn't save it by any means, but it would help. the dj post is killling me lol

So you get a bunch of bands from the break to play for free and sell tickets for you and now a bunch of local djs. And you wonder why it’s not selling well.

Didn’t he make a comment on the podcast that high school kids will come, they just don’t make plans until 4 days before, or something like that?

He’s probably hoping the DJs family and friends will buy tickets to show up and catch their set. That’s at least another 100 tickets rights?

I like that he thinks the average high school kid has hundreds of dollars of disposable income and that they’re going to spend it on his shitty fest of all things

I live an hour away and if i can get a cheap enough ticket day if I might go to Saturday to see Limp Bizkit, Flyleaf, Chelsea Grin, Carnifex, and Ov Sulfur. But I won’t buy any sort of ticket even on the secondary market til I know what I’m actually dealing with. It’s sad I have a friend actually playing the fest and I was like “sorry man I can’t buy a ticket from you, I’m not confident I’ll get my money back when it gets cancelled”

Exactly the same thinking there. My friends and I got a room in AC planning to go for the weekend. We’re still going to AC, will go to the fest saturday if it happens.

Targeting high schoolers, but sets the festival during the school year.

I still think the first weekend of May is not gonna be warm enough to enjoy an outdoor fest near the water in New Jersey.

Every skate and surf and bamboozle while it was still in Asbury was in April/may. The weather is not the issue at all, though I guess we used to spend most time in the convention hall and only 1 ow 2 stages were outside

Yeah I went to the first Bamboozle there in 2005, and it was cold and rainy. We watched Motion City Soundtrack early in the day on the outdoor stage, but spent the rest of the day inside Convention Hall because the weather was so crumby. This year being entirely outside is a gamble.

Even Adjacent on Memorial Day weekend could go either way, although it's more likely they have the nicer weather. I just remember Memorial Day 2021 I was at a BBQ in Brooklyn and it dropped to 50 degrees and we were freezing out asses off. I can't imagine what a day like that would be like on the beach.

I have mentally prepared myself for the possibility of it being cold and rainy all weekend for adjacent

    Nothing will stop me

The weather in the tri state area is so unpredictable between April and June. It's 70 degrees and sunny today on April 1st, yet I've gone to days of GovBall in June where I was cold and wet.
But a good buzz, a good set and a large crowd definitely helps you power through it lol

That was a really weird year of Bamboozle because the capacity at Convention Hall was far too small to host the bigger acts. Instead of the last day being MCR/Alkaline Trio/Bouncing Souls/Flogging Molly at Convention Hall, the fire marshal made the latter two move outside to conflict with the other two inside. It was a mess but definitely comfortable outside seeing Bouncing Souls/Flogging Molly.

    Also, a single-day was $29, haha.

HA I remember that! And if I remember correctly, John D never secured the permits to block of the streets, so the outdoor stages were accessible to the public without a ticket. I only went the 2nd day, and I remember people losing their shit because they weren't letting people in to watch Further Seems Forever and Fall Out Boy. Luckily we made it in just before they closed the doors.

I mean looking back, that weekend should've solidified that John D had no idea what he was doing and shouldn't be in charge of running a festival haha. Should've handed the reigns back over to the Skate and Surf team.
I feel like John D also tried throwing a hardcore festival called Saints and Sinners at Asbury Park and that also blew up into a total mess.

That's completely correct. 100% open to the public -- though the crowd wasn't too bad, if I remember correctly. I was pretty pissed that I missed MCR, though.

The second day was chaos. Pretty certain my headliners ended up being Hot Rod Circuit and Piebald because no one could get into Convention Hall for Further Seems Forever/Fall Out Boy/The Starting Line, and I just drove back to school rather than hang around.

Can't speak for Saints and Sinners, but I'm pretty sure I remember hearing that was a mess, too.

They rebranded this today as “The biggest hip hop party on the east coast” trying to do something at this point to move some tickets.
