Rap verse features on pop songs, even if the verse itself is good, often detracts more than it adds imo because it can take me out of the song and feel like a very different vibe from what the lead artist is doing. Features should serve more like duets, eg JLo and Ja Rule on “I’m Real.” Instead they often feel like something that’s just been shoe-horned into a completely distinct pop song

The one band that, for me, could REALLY pull off the gimmick feature, mostly because of how well-placed they were, was Fall Out Boy. Especially on Folie a Deux, I love every one of them

The duet honestly peaked together with Murder Inc

I completely agree with this and I've never heard anyone else say it until now. I obviously listen to a ton of hip-hop and it's totally fine and part of that but when I see it on a pop-punk album or something it looks so cheesy

Because it’s obviously them desperately trying to appeal to people who by default would listen to rap instead

A comment in the MCR thread made me post this, but I sit at shows, all day every day, and I don't give a fuck.

I don't care if anyone sits or stands, but if you get mad at someone for standing.... Then you suck

I dunno about mad, but if I pay for a seat and someone in front of me stands and forces me to stand, I reserve the right to get a little annoyed.

Sorry, hard disagree!! You made the decision to go to a concert, where people stand and watch music, so you need to expect people will stand and watch music.

  11. I’ve only been to two seated shows where people actually sat, and one of them was at a museum lol. The only real advantage of a seated show is having a designated spot

And this is why I don't go to concerts anymore.

Fair enough haha. Or you can spend all your money and only sit in the front row /sarcasm

I went to a soccer mommy show at a college and intentionally sat on the raised sides of the venue so I could sit but it was low enough that I still had to stand to see anything over the standing people on the floor. I felt rightfully annoyed lol.

Ever since shows have come back I've noticed waaay more people sitting at arena shows. I personally hate it because it makes me feel stupid and like everyone is looking at me when only me and my friend are standing but I refuse to cave and sit at a show

I feel kinda silly when I wanna jump and dance and nobody else is, but I try to remind myself to set the tone. Others might also be feeling self conscious so they need a brave soul to rally everyone into action. I fully plan on being that person when I see carly Rae jepsen in a few weeks!

  17. The only time people sat down at the Billie Eilish concert recently was during three acoustic songs, haha. 14,000 people standing for 2 hours

depends on the artist and the demographic at the arena - I’ve seen Queen + Adam Lambert, Roger Waters, and Muse at the same venue and there were far more people sitting down during those shows

I think if there are areas to stand and areas to sit, you should probably actually sit in the sitting area, especially if you can roam freely

Vice-versa has been true for me, but the reality I feel is that when you pay money to go have a good time at a concert, you should be able to enjoy your evening in whatever way that feels right to you.

As I get older, I find myself getting excited about seated shows depending on the venue. I’m a big dude so it sucks in old theaters. But by the end of some GA shows my knees are GONE especially if I worked that day.

Love seated shows. I don’t mind GA when the act is playing but it’s always a struggle between sets

  22. GA for life (unless it’s unaffordable)

I like GA but when it's a long lineup it's rough. I like to be near the front so I can see but standing through 3 or 4 other bands I'm indifferent about is taxing. Having the option to sit between sets is very nice.

GA is and has always been too much for me, especially now when I don't want to be squished even with a mask, but I love seeing people live their best life from the balcony

I still usually prefer GA but don’t love the back/knee/hip pain that comes with it. Getting older is fun!
