Now I want to make a playlist with the National and Taylor Swift. I’m fans of both. I find her lyrics quite predictable to the point where I can guess what words will be next. But in saying that, I don’t put her on the same level as other artists.

 

Totally great positive take here - and agreed. I noticed that on The National's Spotify page, their "This is The National" playlist is sitting there nicely at the top with the cover to Evermore as the image.

Made me smile thinking that The National could gain new fans that way.

 

I sort of acclimated to like "Smells Like Teen Spirit" and "Basket Case" and "Enter Sandman" They're 25-29 years ago. But I heard "Learn to Fly" on WZLX and literally yelled aloud "NOPE!" as I turned it off,

 

There's like ~100 years of recorded music to explore and I have a finite time on this planet. Catch me wasting any of it dwelling on the stuff I don't want to keep listening to?

 

Every now and again I think about how the next time we are able to go to bars and whatnot, there could be someone there who was conceived to a song from Enema of the State. Extremely bleak shit

 

I found this comment a while ago while looking up that Ashanti x Ja Rule song they did for that Hamilton mixtape. This was a response to someone saying that Ja's voice is weird.

Respect to the drum solo in "YYZ" on Exit...Stage Left, but most drum solos are super self-indulgent. At least with guitar solos (which can be self-indulgent in their own right), I feel like it's a lot easier to integrate one into a song.

honestly i prefer silence solos to the rest. they are especially good for transition purposes.
