I don't get the Phoebe Bridgers love or whats so special about her. Then again, I didn't get the Alex G love about 6 months ago and like him now, so maybe I just need to wait a while to get her haha

If it helps, I think her new album is miles better than the first album, which I never thought was very good

She's a really great songwriter with a lovely voice. Not much more to get than that.

Yeah I think when people say "I don't get [insert singer/band]" it's like...there's nothing to "get", there's not some special thing going on with the artist/band, you just aren't a fan of their music.

I'd prolly put FOB above Panic in my own opinion, but they're both very solid.

I think there's a certain cheese and earnestness factor that turns a lot of people off.

Not many better pop punk albums than cork tree, almost 0 listenable music after FAD though.

On the subject of Phoebe I'd agree with Punisher being a significant step up from Strangers overall, but the best songs on that album are just as good.

the only post-hiatus FOB song I really love is "Lake Effect Kid," and even that is just a finished version of 2008 demo

MANIA is a pretty good album, best of their post hiatus. First two comeback records had some really good songs interspersed with some absolute garbage.

Not to potentially change the subject but producers like Flume, SOPHIE, A.G. Cook, Dylan Brady, etc... in the whole electro “anti-pop” future bass/bubblegum bass wheelhouse... I feel like they’re all borderline “ruining” music for me lol.

Ruining in a sense that they’ve been altering my perceptions of music, as music has been known and understood, for however long... It’s almost not even exciting for me anymore to hear something without some level of electronic experimentation or an element of sound design/creation.

The sounds are so visual and vivid... it’s like “*CLANK...* rock-hitting-metal-pipe” instead of some same old generic percussion tone or snare, or sometimes these sounds are pitched and used in a melodic sense and it’s like “woah”... I just find it super fresh and exciting.

I definitely absolutely love that electronic/glitchy style of production. Anytime a hip-hop album has that sound it automatically gains some points for me
