Never listened to Erotica. Changing that this afternoon.

 

Erotica is a masterpiece imo

 

Madonna in her prime was cool and ballsy as hell. She's definitely faced a ton of ageism that sucks, but also has had some really bizarre behavior (her quarantine videos, her Aretha speech that was all about her) that has turned me off to whatever this current version of her is.

 

"When All Is Said and Done" may be the best divorce song ever.

 

True Blue is her only truly great album, imo. But she has a loooooong string of very good ones.

 

311 is a legit great band

 

They do have the best cover of "Love Song" out of the eleventy billion out there.

 

I’m not a huge Anberlin fan but I think their cover is better.

 

Lovesong is a perfect song so I never expect much from the covers. hard to compete unless you're gonna change it radically.

but speaking of perfect pop songs, I think you should have at least one of those under your belt before I'm willing to entertain you fucking around with key changes

 

Both those covers are fine, but were the two I was immediately thinking of when I said 311's was better. They actually make it their own. The others just cover it.

 

311's covers are good but I also like when they come original

 

This is probably my favorite Lovesong cover. It makes it sound like a 2008 indietronica hit.

I was of course a big Madonna fan around the ray of light era and that whole resurgence but I definitely remember being on the dance team and we had to do an entire Madonna like medley routine and I was just too young and I didn't get it and I hated every moment lol. I was like wtf I'm 12 wut is voguing??? Why am I wearing one fishnet glove?? And hearing those songs on repeat for that year kinda killed it for me

 

not sure how unpopular this is but each janelle monae album is better than the last (they’re all great though)

If Madonnas music was removed from history I would not lose any sleep.

 

If Madonna’s music didn’t exist, we’d lose a ton of great pop music and the artists she influenced.

 

Also, she rules in “A League of Their Own” and that movie would lose something special without her in the ensemble.

An old boss of mine used to go on rants all the time about how horrible he thought Madonna was. One of his arguments was that she has caused so many people to waste their time listening to her when they couldve been doing something like curing cancer. One time a song of hers came on the radio and he got so worked up he had to leave the building.
