Today I heard someone say “jimmy eat world is trash” and I nearly shit.

 

Probably only heard The Middle

 

Still a bad opinion because the middle is very good

 

Hum is just boneless Chevelle without the conviction to tune all the way down to drop A and sticking with drop D like cowards.

 

Between that and your St Anger take I have it on good authority you will be permabanned, Jason told me it’s true.

 

either that or jason will nod in agreement. no other options.

 

Never listened to Chevelle before, but I've absolutely heard of them. What would be the best starting point?

 

point #1, they’re a pretty solid chronological band

 

this made me laugh so goddamn hard.

i get the phrase while simultaneously not getting it (and never hearing it before)

 

That or start with Wonder What's Next. I think that is probably their most solid album.

Love me some Sci-Fi Crimes

 

absolutely, definitely their best. really tough to fuck with the first six songs there

 

My favorite Chevelle is probably a tie between This Type of Thinking Could Do Us In or Vena Sera.

Besides Hats off to the Bull though, I don't think they have a weak album so starting anywhere is a good start

 

yeah, hats off is definitely the worst. my top three would be sci fi, point #1 and this type of thinking

the one that came out in 2016 is very good actually. a little more in the helmet vein of thingw

 

Damn, I think Sci-Fi is easily one of their worst. Sleep Apnea is the best song on the album, but nowhere near their best opener. Mexican Sun, Shameful Metaphors, Jars, and Letter From A Thief are all solid. Fell Into Your Shoes is one of the worst songs they've ever written and the instrumental is such a waste of a track. Everything else is meh.

I think Vena Sera is far and away their best album. Wonder What's Next is a good one because that's the one that broke them into the mainstream big time with their singles. Hats Off has some solid stuff and some filler, but the filler is better than what's on Sci-Fi, where the whole back half is just uninteresting. La Gargola was really good and I honestly still haven't given their newest one much time.

no way. literally their best instrumentals and, while i can see it not being someone’s favorite performance, i think it’s clearly the best pete has sounded. the first six songs are pretty perfect. roswells spell is their best song. do less.

 

but i also think point #1 is their second best so we clearly just want different things from the band.

 

This is the most relevant this band has ever been in my entire life haha. Evidently I need to listen to them

 

that isn’t true. the red and send the pain below had Moments.

but they are very good. they take elements of helmet and tool and make them accessible. also, like, a band with drop b tuning on the radio is pretty wild haha

 

It's funny because there are points where it seems like Pete is really trying to sound like Maynard, and of course you have the very Tool-ish video that is "Mia"

 

Yoooo I am here for dat Chevelle love. I used to want to be Pete Loeffler (sp?). I enjoy WWN and This Type of Thinking from a nostalgic lens, but I genuinely think Vena Sera is a great album, easily my favorite. I used to be very active on a Chevelle forum before I found AP lol
