"The Angel" is probably in the running, too.

I don't dislike "The Angel," but I don't like it being on that record. "Mary Queen of Arkansas," though, I think is great.

That is probably the only song on Greetings that I habitually skip over.

Errr I skip The Angel, not Mary Queen of Arkansas, that is

I don't really consider it an official album, since Dylan himself had nothing to do with it.

I like that era and voice a lot though, so I enjoy it. I really like his version of "Lily of the West."

Very particular sound. Love it or hate it. Personally whenever I put them on I can't get their drum and bass grooves out of my head for days. They have such a sick rhythm section.

I prefer Resurrection to Makes Me Sick.

Also that terrible calypso style song is awful.

Honestly, that song sounds like a joke to me.

And I think Resurrection is my fourth favourite of theirs, and Makes Me Sick is just after.

There's a "How a Resurrection Really Feels" joke somewhere in this...

Hold Steady, guys, I'm working on it.

Sticks and Stones, Resurrection, Catalyst, Nothing Gold Can Stay are my favorites. I like Makes Me Sick, enough that I bought the vinyl, but it did not grab me nearly as much as Resurrection.

  18. Resurrection would be an awful album for anyone to release -- but for NFG to have done it is downright embarrassing for them.

Amen. It's one of the worst albums I've ever heard by a band I generally enjoy.

    .

I think a lot of great albums get underrated because they aren't along the lines of what people want from a band. For example, Pink Floyd's Final Cut is underrated because it's a textured, subtlely emotive disc that followed up the mother of all bombasts...The Wall.

A lot of Ryan Adams fans will never fully appreciate his catalog because they wanted (and are still waiting for) another Heartbreaker.

Pearl Jam's entire 1996-2002 run is underrated because it's not the yowling, angst-ridden and immediate "grunge" that the people who latched onto Ten and Vs wanted.

U2's '90's albums are underrated because they're dark, witty, grounded, experimental, self aware--the complete antithesis of what U2 generally is, and what their fans expect from them. They could probably convert a lot of the people who hate that archetype, but their reputation is so scarred by the band's existing fanbase that most of the time they never get heard.

The list is long. And of course Self Portrait is just another example.

I agree with that Final Cut take so much. Your Possible Pasts is my favorite Floyd song.
