Hah yeah same. Had super low expectations, and it might be my favorite of his. Michael Keaton was incredible

This isn't unpopular on here, but it is irl for whatever reason, so: rap music is better than any of the rtj albums

People who made "Smooth" jokes every time they see Carlos Santana doing something should be tied to a chair and made to listen to Abraxas, III and Carvansarai on a loop until they both cry and apologize.

i like TGP a bit more than EIT, if you go from "Spinning" to "Swim" to "Annie" to the last five in one sitting and don't end up an emotional mess you're dead inside

also Jack's has some of the best b-sides ever

Hot Take: Everything In Transit is the only good full album Andrew has ever been a part of.

I absolutely cannot stand the other JM stuff, and EIT is one of my fav albums ever. And It is miles better than SoCo.

Andrew McMahon's voice is so papery thin, it's hard for me to get past that in his music.

Here's one a lot of you might disagree with - "Not What It Seems" off LTTW is his best song. Even if LTTW is otherwise the more amateur side of his songwriting, that song is damn good.

I don't like any full album Andrew's been a part of. Dark Blue is a jam though.

Looking at it now, what album was he supposed to say is his best? His solo? Haven't heard that one but the rest aren't very good.

Yeah way too American and nasally for me. He does write some great songs every now and then though, and I like a good chunk of Everything In Transit.

Oh god, is that how American vocals are categorized to a British person? This makes me hate the early 00s Southern California pop punk scene hahaha

An entire era/music scene of people who just sang with terrible form and technique, and over articulated every syllable.

Like I get it, it's a "style", some might think this post sounds pretentious, but singing nasally/through your throat and not chest is not a "good" trend. It damages vocal cords and sounds like youre breathing in helium. And a bunch of young musicians including myself were steered the wrong way in terms of, how to be a vocalist, by taking influence from music that teaches you harmful habits.

There are obviously exceptions within that scene of vocalists who sang properly, and that's why I hated that trend, because it's really just groupthink about how vocals sound "cool". I'm glad there are more pop-punk bands now with more natural vocal styles.

Konstantine is a song I'd love to hear covered by somebody who's voice I like. There's a hell of a lot to like about that song, I think it's ambitious, well-written and composed, with some simple but quite moving and effective lyrics. I just can't stand his voice over the top of it. The straining of his voice and the really whiny (for lack of a better term) tone.

I usually like strong accents in music, but there's always the exception to the rule!
