I like a few yellowcard songs I've heard but I was indifferent to their album I listened to.

Green day and blink are weird for me cause they were more my parents music. Which lol that makes me sound like a toddler. I am a fountain of youth of course but my parents were teen parents and they were in their 20s when green day and blink were first getting really big so they were in the age demo. I jammed to the albums my parents had and liked them casually but I never really crossed over from being a casual fan. Well maybe I did with green day since I have a few of their albums. But they weren't artists that defined my teenage adolescence or anything.

I hope I've made someone feel old cause I have teenage siblings and they make me feel like I'm 90 every day

I definitely see what people are saying about Yellowcard. Ocean Avenue obviously is a jam, and each album has a couple songs I love playing. I remember getting really excited about When You're Through Thinking... because I thought For You, And Your Denial was phenomenal, the intro with the guitars kicking in, always awesome. The chorus is great, they just wrote a really great song there. The rest of the album did very little for me. I want to love them, I have a couple of their records on vinyl and I check out almost everything they do, but none of it ever pulls me in!

Some unpopular opinions around here... I don't understand the love for Future... at all. His voice is awful, the effects he uses are awful... seeing him live was more of a headache than anything else.

I really enjoy Neighborhoods, which I know a lot of the blink fanbase, and maybe even the members of the band even dislike.

I don't GET the appeal of Modern Baseball, either. People love them, I have seen them twice and their fanbase is just crazy into them. I just don't enjoy their music. It's as simple as that, haha.

Final thing for now, I'm sure I'll come back to this thread and post more---

I don't know if people just don't care, or if people really dislike this band, but I am stoked on the new I See Stars music, and I can't wait for their new record! I remember back on AP they got lots of shit, but they just seem irrelevant now I guess.

Yellowcard is better than every single one of their contemporaries.

I don't think I've ever listened to a full Yellowcard album but I've liked their singles, I think Sean's violin playing also sets them apart in the scene

Since they've been around for so damn long, who are you referring to as contemporaries? like what bands?

The timeline is pretty flexible IMO -- definitely Sum 41, Good Charlotte, and Fall Out Boy; I'd also include bands like The Academy Is, NFG, and Blink even though the latter was established by the time Yellowcard came up and TAI came a bit later than YC. Just really any band making pop rock/pop punkish music in the early to mid 2000s.

I can agree with that, especially if it's in that pop/rock genre.

I remember being a kid and Sic Transit Gloria and Ocean Avenue dominated the MTV2 network. Those two songs were everywhere.

I wouldn't consider brand new their contemporary anymore though.

Ocean avenue I think. It wasn't bad but I found his voice kinda grating

I know they're not, but I've always grouped Yellowcard in with all of the other pop punk one-hit wonders from the early 2000s

There's no way Yellowcard is better than Fall Out Boy. Or even The Starting Line

No, they absolutely went a different way whrn Devil and God came out. It's actually weird to think that Yellowcard and Brand New were ever in a similar "scene".

The Starting Line is the most overrated band of that era of pop rock. Fall Out Boy isn't far behind, though at least they released one great album (Folie). Yellowcard is leagues better than both imo.
