Man, I'm sorta really glad I forgot this thread existed for the last 20 pages or so haha

Two cents on the current main topic:
WYWTB is the best Taking Back Sunday album and it's not even close. LN comes in second, TAYF is barely listenable even by a nostalgic rationalization, and the rest is garbage.

The only Brand New album I can't get into is Daisy. I would still consider them overrated, though they are a very good band.

Speaking of overrated bands in this scene -- The Wonder Years fall into that category.

A few pages back, some people made comments about no one else liking their music and I can relate. My friend is batshit crazy for Eminem and Tech Nine and I don't like any of it. I've searched for common ground but it's hard to find. There's maybe 2 or 3 artists we both like out of all the stuff we listen to.

Again, I've found it's less vital with friends than with family or significant others. That's the way it's been for me, at least.

A select few of my friends say that they hate stuff like Weezy, Kanye, Drake, etc, but will actively listen to Logic and Childish Gambino, the latter of whom pretty much is Lil Wayne if he had spent one too many years at Coachella

My best friend and my girlfriend and my mum all hate The Smiths. Sometimes it's hard to love people.

I'm over shitting on rappers I don't vibe with or deem as "white people rappers". Looking back, that's so offensive and ugly in terms of viewing race within the music. I've talked about it before on here. It's fine to call out dorky white dudes who don't respect the genre and only mess with artists they deem "smart" or "clever" or whatever, but those artists shouldn't be faulted for that happening to them.

    The rivalry is back on

I'm the opposite! I've mostly accepted that my family has different tastes in music than I do, but I've become closer with a number of friends from bonding over music. With my first job, talking about music was what broke the ice and our fun question in interviews was to have someone ask about a candidate's taste in music. I also have friends who it might be easy to not hang out with, except that they're my concert going friends. That forces us to hang out more than we probably otherwise would. Not to say that I don't have other friends who have completely different tastes in music or aren't interested at all.

    a literal succubitch

Oh yeah, I've got a couple more.

    - In This Moment are a great band and they haven't gone downhill at all. "Whore" is one of my all-time favorite songs, period, and I also find it really suspect when people shit talk them for the sexual imagery and themes in their music, yet the all-male band Rammstein (who I also love, mind you) who do it all the time get off scot-free. It's also kind of funny since that's the exact sort of thing the aforementioned song "Whore" talks about - misogynistic double standards.

    - Suicide Silence aren't bad at all either and I am actually interested for their new album this year.

My unpopular opinion for today is that, as glad as I am that Underoath are back, I still love Broken Compass and want Sleepwave to keep making music. I really just don't get the critisism that record recieves.

I really don't like the over-produced, electronic sounding autotune.

See, I feel like the high level of production actually fits considering how electronically influenced that record is, but that's just me I guess

I wasn't referring to anything previously mentioned in the thread, just speaking in general. Which album, though?

Hahaha, don't know what to tell ya. I'd take Bends, OK Computer, In Rainbows, and now A Moon Shaped Pool over Kid A every day of the week. I feel like I've given it enough listens, but maybe that's not the case... only a few songs really grab me, the rest annoy me.

The first Adele album is real good, the second is alright, although my perception is probably skewed by overexposure. The third is just very....whatever

Growing up loving blink-182, NFG, Sum 41, MxPx,Fenix TX, Good Charlotte.. I just couldn't get into Yellowcard for some reason, they have a few good songs spread throughout their discography, I've tried, they always seemed like they would be right up my alley, but idk
