    what a waste of wood

Is it just me or could Ben Gibbard and Colin Meloy be brothers?

That stretch from I Will Possess Your Heart to Talking Bird rules. Plus, Grapevine Fires is great too

Narrow Stairs is one of their best. Kintsugi was quite good and a great bounceback.

Kintsugi has that wicked first four opening tracks, and then just absolutely nothing else.

Death Cab is probably my #2 all time band. I saw them live for the first time last summer, I was two people away from the stage, and I cried three times during their set. :crylaugh:

I was listening to Narrow Stairs earlier today. Love that album.

I never got into Plans, though.

Death Cab is my all time favorite band. i think it's a toss up between Facts and Trans for their best album. there's something really special about the atmosphere of those two records. Walla was such an integral part of the band's sound and i think that may go unnoticed by a lot of people

The first full-on vacation that I ever took on my own with no financial help was, I was living in Baltimore at the time, and I flew out to Seattle for Bumbershoot to see Transatlanticism played start to finish for their 10th Anniversary. I just. Nope. Not missing that fucking show.

Ended up being a life changing trip. 550 dollars on travelocity paid for a week at a hotel and plane, 150 paid for two days at the festival, and I paid for the rest by literally busking my own songs on the street. Unbelievable how much people actually support and contribute to street culture there, you just have to go and see it to believe it. Plus Seattle's bus is 2.50 for an all day pass with unlimited transfers and it was pretty easy to find cheap entrees at random bars/cafes that were $7 or less. Only time i spent more than 10 was to see the top of the Space Needle on my last day.

That was actually an amazing festival, 30 or more performers that i really enjoy were on the lineup (every music style, Kendrick Lamar, Washed Out, Baroness, Mates of State, Deerhunter, Trampled By Turtles, Crystal Casltes, even Doug Benson and Reggie Watts comedy, and an episode of Comedy Bang Bang filmed live).

Weed was just legalized and i brought a whole quarter with me for the week. Spent the whole week high AF watching amazing bands, playing guitar in parks and at Puget Sound overlooks, and then walking around what quickly became my favorite city in the U.S. I walked 16 miles one of those days. Seattle is gorgeous and it was cathartic to see the city Death Cab always sang about and then see them play my favorite album. P sure I cried too during the title track and lost my shit during We Looked Like Giants.

Some thoughts on We Have the Facts since i love talking about that record. Title Track/Scientist Studies to open and close is killer. I love how Title Track starts with the same lo-fi quality as Airplanes and then everything comes into focus on the second verse. Really sets the tone for what's to come. the "lipstick on the filter" line and the song as a whole is just a really good showcase for everything special about Ben Gibbard's song writing.

The build on Scientist Studies is so good too. Would love to see it live if they ever feel like dusting it off. I've dug through youtube for some videos of that 2000-2002 era and they were so on point even back then, you could tell they were onto something special

No Joy In Mudville is POWERFUL live.

You can hear clips of it being played on their DVD Drive Well Sleep Carefully. That band video is hugely inspiring to me.

The Sleeping should have been as big as Taking Back Sunday. Questions and Answers is a criminally underrated scene album

No Joy In Mudville is amazing. Didn't realize people underrated that song, though I guess that album in general feels underrated with how little they play from it and it's sonic qualities.

Stand back. This might break the forum.

Falling in Reverse is a better band than anyone is willing to admit because of the dogpile-hatred mentality that revolves around Ronnie Radke.

It's okay-- I used to do it too because he's an easy target; now I think I'm kinda over it. I gave them a fair shake and found some of their stuff (while some of it corny) to be actually pretty catchy and fun.

    I'm getting old, man.
