Who cares what other people listen to imo

 

CRJ is really dope and her album was great but yeah I'm a bit baffled by how she got so big of a pass from people who are usually completely disinterested in pop music

"how you remind me" is a better song than most of those people's favorite band's best songs

Honestly if it weren't for Who Charted/Howard Kramer - I probably would have been one of those people. When that song was on 24/7 I remember my mom being confused af when I was super into it

i like probably everything on the new record more than anything else i've heard of hers

 

I feel like a lot of those people are semi-ironic about it or at least say it's a guilty pleasure which rubs me the wrong way

people have one or two artists that they point to and say 'they arent like the OTHER pop artists' or 'theyre good for a pop artist,' just liking stuff but in a real backhanded way

I just don't mess with Taylor Swift - no opinion either way really. I liked the 1989 songs I heard on the radio but like I barely keep up with music as it is - I'd rather listen to something else 100% of the time (apparently)

 

the only taylor swift song i really really like is i knew you were trouble

 

Or when white dudes like one or two rappers that "talk about real stuff"

I'm honestly completely willing to hear people out about this (read - don't jump down my fucking throat immeditately) but I don't really like the idea of seeking out artists bc they're women/POC/trans etc...I also don't have a problem with people doing it. I feel like if I were one of those things I'd want people to hear me out cause the music is tight.

I also think that artists - especially in genres where those people are crazy underepresented - need to put them on. Bringing them on tour/opening show or even just sharing shit on Facebook does a lot if you're a bigger band.

Thought this was worth sharing - even the little shit adds up. Had to work or else I would have been at this show :(

 

Yeah always surprised by how many people here have Taylor Swift as their favorite pop artist, I don't think she's in my top ten

 

So funny, I actually listened to their 2nd album after bringing it up in the Metallica Thread and it holds up minus a few songs. I do feel like after Rockstar, they started writing more songs like Something in Your Mouth and dumb shit like that. I'll argue their first 2 albums are still good rock albums.

 

I love 1989 (and her other records) and don't care much for CRJ, shrug

 

1989 is the best taylor record by a fairly wide margin imo

 

At this point I think I prefer Red and Speak Now. The latter has more filler than 1989 but better highlights imo
