I remember going to see Coheed And Cambira back in 2011 and some crowd surfer's elbow dug directly into the back of my shoulder blade and my entire back shoulder was numb for the remainder of the night. I was terrified that they must have caused nerve damage or something. Thankfully I was fine when I woke up in the morning, but it was a scary thing to consider.

I think overall, the conversation over stagediving being "tradition" w/in certain genres only works to marginalize the voices of different types of ppl that might not be comfortable or feel safe about those actions. It totally just perpetuates the jock uber masculine culture that hardcore already favors, while alienating anyone that doesn't identify with that.

 

the best hardcore albums of 2016 were touche amore and frameworks. and if you tell me those bands arent hardcore ill stage dive onto you
