Love me some TDEP, need to get tickets for their "final" tour.

I was debating whether it made sense to compare LIGHTS to TPS but I think it's appropriate don't you?

 

I honestly used to love the wonder years until Soupy's heartfelt yelling became forced screeching.

 

I still can't get over the fact that he calls himself Soupy, for whatever reason Noodles from The Offspring and Fieldy from KoЯn don't instill the same reaction in me

 

Quite, esp her early stuff.

She's also amazing acoustic, so it makes me happy that she's released acoustic versions of her records.

 

I used to listen to TWY non-stop for a couple of years and then they released The Greatest Generation and very suddenly I was over it. I can't even explain why. I just stopped caring.

Though the same could be said to Man Overboard (yikes @ me for liking them so much but they spoke to recent high school graduate me) and The Story So Far (though I checked out of them very quickly after that first album).

At this point I honestly just skip most of those band when they come on shuffle for me while listening to my entire collection.

(Probably not unpopular opinions but I would have been so offended to make this post ~5 years ago)

 

he doesnt call himself that anymore, he introduces himself as Dan and the other band members refer to him as Dan and most interviews with him he's called Dan. I think he's embarrassed by it at this point lol.

 

TWY is the only band out of that wave of pop-punk that I still listen to.

 

He'll always be soupy to me

I got into Fireworks pretty late but they're the only "pop punk" band I listen to regularly from that era.

 

ill still probably check out whatever they put out but im also pretty over twy. not many pop punk bands i can get super into anymore. still love the first fire works album a lot, tho. a lot

 

Oh common life is the best album any new generation pop punk band has put out, by a lot

 

i miss fireworks and the swellers a lot. so glad i got to see them both live (fireworks twice in fact, first time with NFG and the second time with PBC). i used to love pop-punk shows. heh

 

Fireworks got good when they stopped ripping off nfg and he started writing grown ass man lyrics

 

For some reason I never got into Fireworks. I think I would say Light Years is probably my favorite new pop punk band.

 

i forgot the swellers haha. theyre by far my favorite from that wave of pop punk

i think their lyrics have always been pretty good and theyve also always been better than nfg, who is not very good

 

Luckily even though I literally started listening to Fireworks in 2014 (wow) I got to see them twice, opening for TWY (with like, Citizen and Real Friends eh) and for their final tour. Both great sets.

 

I love the swellers!

 

His most recent was actually pretty good. The shit with Timbaland is awwwwwwwful though

 

my take: no good pop punk has been made post-American Idiot/untitled blink-182/From Under the Cork Tree. so like 2003-05 was the last time pop punk was worth listening to.

 

Fireworks is very good as well

 

Fighting words. What about everything Yellowcard has done post-reunion?

 

Never listened to Norma Jean before this year's record, and it's pretty good, but Low Teens kills it

Also I think I'd say at this point the only decent TWY record is TGG
