HIPV is great. So is Day at the Fair. Step above most DTR bands

This is basically how I feel (unless those were in order cuz Facts is a definitive #1 for me). I could cut their post Transatlanticism discography down to maybe 2 songs per album and be fine with it. I find Narrow Stairs virtually unlistenable after the first 4 songs.

Stickman might very well be his best song and I would have Angel in the Snow up there too.

Favorite Death Cab is Trans, but to be fair that was my introduction to the band and with such a strong discography it's hard not to go with the album that hit me first. Actually didn't go backwards in their discography too much until even after Plans came out. Honestly never even gave C&K the time of day, suppose maybe I should at some point though.

HIPV was great, never could get into that last record outside of the opener though. So many fond memories with Life In Dreaming and the EP though. That said, "all of the bands that came up around the same time" is super broad and I would immediately argue for Spitalfield as a counter!

Day At The Fair was okay, have never understood the high praise they receive from many people.

edit: totally forgot about most recent HIPV release haha. Didn't care for that one much.

Rocking Chair Years is super underrated. Annoys me that their drummer uses so much double bass on the record

Hey now. Look at you. Way cool.

Don't really like American Football. Heard the new song and thought "oh good, at least he can sing now".

Keeping a band name that abbreviates to HPV is bold.

Telling someone you're going to an STD show, but they think that means a really skeezy strip club.

The animal ep or whatever? I didn't mind it actually. Definitely wasn't as good as LID, but it wasn't horrible IMO

Hospice is one of the best albums of the last 20 years. The emotional force of that album has not dulled even slightly since I first heard it years ago. The songwriting alone is tremendous but the fluctuations in Silberman's inflections is truly unlike anything I had ever heard. I still don't think I've come across an album where the vocals were that interconnected with the songs thematically.

Listened to that the morning of the day I later learned my mom has brain cancer. It's been hard to go back to it. Shame because it was a definite favorite.

We had an icebreaker at work once that was "What song makes you happy?" and a lot of ppl were struggling because they don't listen to music which I think is weird. Even the most casual of music listeners seems to have one song that makes them happy if they hear it on the radio. you'd think anyway

ehhhhhhh its understandable why people dont invest time in music the way people on this website, for example, do. it's work, it's time consuming, and many people just have more interest in other things that take up their time.
