Avatar: The Way of Water (James Cameron, December 16, 2022) Movie • Page 17

  1. I was like “ya know… maybe I’ll go see it and see what it’s all about” but then I saw the run time and immediately was like “nope!” Literally will never watch this. 3 hours and 10 minutes? Ha! Why?!

I know that running a band all by yourself is pretty time consuming and doesn’t leave much opportunity for longer films, but if anything over three hours is off limits for you, you are missing some sick flicks.

To be fair the movie itself is probably under 3 hours with end credits pushing it over that time

I agree movies are getting too long but I wish this one was 5 hours.

  5. This was so good man. What the fuck

  6. First hour was just kinda solid, on par with the first film, but the second and third act... I could literally watch eight hours of just gorgeous, underwater, fantasy sea creature footage. Some of the visuals are truly unbelievable (glad I caught this in 3D), and the emotional weight is just ten times as heavy as anything in the first film. Cameron is a madman and I'm so glad/shocked he pulled this off

  7. I also can't stop thinking about how the Na'vi child is probably my height

  8. Such as? I can’t think of a single 3+ hour movie, other than Lord of the Rings (which I also haven’t seen haha)

Several Tarantino movies, the Irishman, titanic, godfather 2, gone with the wind, wolf of wall street, the green mile, the deer hunter, jfk

  10. I’ve seen a handful of Tarantino movies. A couple of those can get long, for sure. Hateful 8 especially. Haven’t seen any of those other movies though. A couple of them I haven’t even heard of before. But yeah, it’s so hard for me to watch anything for that long.

rewatching for the first time since the year it came out, it's wild how bad the original is

I rewatched it last week and the dialogue is terrible but I was enjoying it by the end and like I said the CGI is better than anything marvel has shit out the last 10 years.

  13. The first film isn't bad. It's just on the nose. The world-building and action still rule.

  14. This one isn't perfect either -- some shoddy dialogue in the first act and a few heavy-handed moments throughout -- but the scope is so ambitious and it somehow manages to tie up most, if not all, of its threads quite neatly. The stakes feel so much more real that anything questionable feels pretty easily forgivable.

Seven Samurai is good af too, and the longest version clocks in at 3.5

I don’t see it in 3D, but my projector definitely seemed to have some issues. There was a noticeable lag in sequences especially where the action was high.

When they got to the islands….whew. Amazing. And did this fool really say that they won’t watch anything that’s 3 hours?

I’m not the only one. We’ve had this conversation a few times on here. I just can’t sit for that long. Short attention span/fall asleep too easily.

  19. Just watch it in two sittings then
