Yeah I don't hear it at all

 

Although I'm sure when tmv first came out people said it sounded like atdi

 

actually it's more because the instrumentals and omar's direction but keep shootin!

 

I think it is definitely on the more experimental side of ATDI's material but it isn't anywhere near on the Mars Volta's scale. It sounds like ATDI to me.

 

I only listened once but I didn't find it all that experimental for them

 

I don't think the playing sounds like Volta at all and think the production definitely sounds like Volta but I guess that's to be expected. I can also definitely hear parallels with the instrument sound on this and on Noctourniquet even though the general playing styles/song structures and melodies/etc are very different.

If things had proceeded as planned when the reunion was announced in January and Jim was still in the band that released the new song yesterday, I'd be indescribably stoked about new ATDI material. Since he's not, though... *wavy hand gesture*

 

yeah, to me AtdI is the dynamics between Omar and Jim

btw this sounds nothing like la Volta, sounds like watered-down AtDI

 

If you thought that song was experimental just wait until you eat food that's not hamburgers!

 

I gotta give props to Cedric for having pretty distinct different singing styles between ATDI/Antemasque and TMV. The more syncopated kinda less melodic singing he has on this song is totally in line with ATDI and not something he does in TMV or even Antemasque really
