Armor For Sleep won’t be playing anything from Say Hello To Sunshine.

What’s the story with the former?

  7. I don't know how much is meant to be shared, but you can search the band name(s) and find some information on this site.

I’ve expressed this in other threads before but I can’t imagine paying $40+ to see a band you liked 18 years ago but never bothered to listen to newer material from, or not wanting to hear it. Or rather, I can’t understand how so much of an audience is made up of those people. If it was a drastic sonic departure, sure, I get that. But Nightmare is a fantastic, nostalgia-heavy song that deserves to be a set staple. Hated seeing fans not get into it/not know it the last time I saw em.

Just got home from the show. Interesting it didn’t seem like Armor had much of a crossover with the Bayside crowd. Was definitely the most low energy crowd I’ve seen for Armor.
Finch killed it. That 2nd new song they played went so damn hard! They said the name of it but I couldn’t really make it out. Can’t wait for that to get properly released.
Also seemed like a decent amount of people left after Finch.

Wondering if AFS/Finch will get a few more songs after Winona Rider drop off. Bayside is always the band from the scene that I feel was polarizing. I knew kids in college that were obsessed. Then others that didn’t dig them at all. They are playing a huge set so it’s def their headlining show. Personally I would have preferred all three to have equal time.

Winona Fighter is playing all but like the last 2/3 shows. It makes sense Bayside is headlining. AFS/Finch have been highly inactive the last 10/15 years and can really only draw off nostalgia while Bayside is one of the few bands from that era who has toured constantly and consistently made great music while maintaining/building their fanbase.

AFS/Finch can only really draw when they do album tours while Bayside is rare and is one of the only bands who has totally avoided those kinds of tours.

Yea, based on the Pittsburgh show, anyone but Bayside headlining would have been weird. The crowd seemed into all the bands, but fairly quiet outside of the bigger songs from AFS/Finch. Just not as familiar with their material. The crowd went wild for Bayside. Which obviously makes sense as it is their tour.

Finch and AFS definitely didn't get enough time. Saying that, Winona was real good. 4 kick ass bands though. Show was fucking righteous. Might do it again in NYC.

AFS was my favorite by far, but also my favorite of the three. They sounded great. Bayside was unbelievable sound wise. I really hope AFS keeps touring/recording and I'd love if they could get longer sets.

I was bummed to miss Winona Fighter (coming over the GW bridge during rush hour is literal hell). I saw the frontwoman was hanging by the merch table but I didnt see any WF merch. I hope they come around on another tour this year, I've been listening to them so much these past couple of months.

All this checks out. Props to Bayside for avoiding the nostalgia hole

This is continuously surprising to me. I felt like AFS was huge back in the day but when I saw them open for Dashboard and Andrew Mcmahon, the crowd was small and it seemed like few people knew their music

I don't think they were ever "huge" - but i feel like, compared to other bands from that era that regrouped, their announcement/marketing/etc. was a little quiet. That + the album being "eh" i'm sure a lot of people and unaware they're back.

I'm surprised they aren't playing a single song off the new album though. Leaning into nostalgia or not, gotta give some people a reason to check out new/different stuff.

  18. I'm stoked to see Finch and AFS, and get back home at around 9/9:30. Never got into Bayside at all, for whatever reason.

Lol they are playing a new song. And it's only an 8 song set, so I feel like only 1 song from the new album is enough.

Also, wasn't the new album received positively by everyone? I know I loved it, could've sworn the consensus was that it was a return to form.

They fell off hard with Smile for Them and went away pretty uneventfully. They only had a brief period of being active compared to a lot of bands and opened most tours. I’m excited to see them again though. The only time I saw them was Warped 06 and they played maybe 2-3 songs because Ben’s guitar broke. He was actually kind of a dick during the set because they had no crowd due to playing at the same time as AFI who was huge at that point. Looking forward to a better experience lol

I never got into Bayside either but decided to stay for their first 30 minutes or so to see what all the fuss is about. I don't think I'll be diving into their catalog or anything, but can't deny that their musicianship was impressive.

Received positively by us music nerds who actually seek out new music, ignored by most nostalgia bated fairweather fans lol

My bad I saw someone post earlier there weren't any rain museum tracks.

Maybe I'm an outlier. It's fine but I never have the urge to revisit it.
