As someone with some pretty bad hearing loss in one ear, the actual productized Hearing Aid functionality is nice. More refined than the clunky way to enable it in the past.

I haven't yet really tried out the hearing protection, planning on it tonight when I got to Touche Amore so I can compare between my earplugs and them.

It took years until people realized they stopped producing the original HomePod. I think if they are launching a non-Pro headset in mid-2025 they know they won’t sell many more pros in the next 9-12 months.

It’s such a monumental flop. Far too expensive even as a dev device, no real use case, and looks kind of stupid. Apple should pivot to actual glasses but they’ll also be excessively priced and likely fail.

  6. and impossible to build with current tech, like if they could make glasses rn they obviously would

If they can get the budget Vision Pro with the same resolution into the $1,500-$2,000 range I still think it could be a hit.

or if Meta or someone else does this just for the movie theater mode.

Tim wanted glasses and apparently wasn't happy with how bulky it was to start with, but as Jason said, the tech just isn't there yet.

I know, not sure the technology will ever get there in the short-term.

It's somewhat inexcusable that the iOS 18 Mail categorization is iPhone only.

I absolutely hate this feature that puts an Apple TV live activity on my iPhone any time I’m watching something. I hate it and want this feature gone.

Settings > General > AirPlay & Continuity > Automatically AirPlay set to Never

    That fixed it for me

My wife has a 14 pro and her remote app just stopped connecting to our Apple TVs once she updated to iOS 18. Even restored her phone and both Apple TVs and it didn’t help. No issues on my 15 pro. So weird

Not sure if I'll actually be able to afford it, but it's going to be very tempting to get the new Mac Mini. Right now I'm on a 2015 iMac.

    18.1 is out

    my download is 1.81gb haha

  19. And there’s a waitlist for Apple Intelligence… I kinda figured there’d be one but they’re again pushing a software release that offers those features only for users then being told to wait longer.

  20. The waitlist was like less than 5 minutes

When I updated mine it didn’t mention anything about a waitlist so how can I tell if I have the features or not

edit: never mind I see it

The waitlist is just the time it takes to download the intelligence features.

Genmoji beta is…fine, but its shortcomings are immediately obvious. (I’m sure it’ll improve.)

Same with Image Playground, although the results are marginally better.

So far the most helpful use of AI on my phone has been with the compose feature while looking at a note with a bunch of values. Writing tools —> Compose —> “add all numbers in the note,” which did as asked.

It's more likely the PCC access.
