Wait, really?! I’ve been so checked out of phone tech lately.

I’ll continue to use an edge to edge glass screen protector until they create a screen that cannot be scratched lol

No matter how tough they say they are, my screens always get littered with scratches

The risk of those things happening is way too high for me to not have a screen protector lol

Fiancé is getting an iPad. She can’t decide between the Air and the Pro. She’d get the smaller version of the pro if she went pro. She’s be using it for browsing, reading, some work stuff, nothing extreme. Any reason she should spend the extra money or should she just get the 256Gb Air?

I do think it’s bogus that Apple have depreciated some older Macs that had big support for Big Sur last year with Monterey.

I just need Apple to announce these new 14inch and 16inch Pros already

Anyone who bought any mac post chip transition news should've seen this coming though.

I see what you mean but has apple ever before not fully supported hardware for at least several years after it launches? This is less than a year and it’s already in some ways outdated

Air all the way. Perfect for reading. Had they added the new mini-led to the smaller Pro, maybe that would have made it better for watching stuff, but as it currently stands Air is much better value.

I second this. I just bought the last gen 11 inch Pro and love it but I am not sure at all the new Air isn’t just as good for what I use it for - note taking, videos, email, browsing. I did get it on a good deal from Best Buy so I don’t have any regrets but I think you could save the money and not notice any difference.

I assume not, but does anyone know if the minimized video player can have its size adjusted, or are we limited to the 2 default sizes? There are moments on my 12.9" that I want that player even larger than the 1/6 dimension it offers. Unsure if a 3rd party app is available for this.

These AirTags look and sound awesome. Never heard of them before. Could be a perfect Father’s Day gift for my dad.

  21. Anyone bought one of the new Mac Minis with the M1 chip?

I have a non-Apple external monitor plus Apple keyboard and would buy an Apple trackpad for it. My 2015 Macbook Pro is at long last biting the dust (battery done and more importantly, RAM is shot) so I'm looking to replace it and don't really need a portable option so I'm thinking standalone Mac Mini (as opposed to full iMac) might be my best shot. Would buy a bigass Apple monitor down the road but would be cheaper to just use it with the monitor I already have for now

    Any thoughts?

I WANTED the 8/8 but ended up with the 8/7 due to availability. 256 GB SSD. I do very heavy video editing and it's been handling everything I throw at it so far, really truly amazing piece of hardware.

Been thinking of doing this same thing. I've heard nothing but incredible things about the new M1 Mac mini. I also have a 2015 MB Pro that I can feel is starting to lag behind a bit (although I definitely think I can get this thing to last a few more years if necessary) but that Mac Mini is just so tempting at the price. I don't really use my laptop outside of plugging it in to my external monitor anymore, so it seems like the right move.
