honestly dolby has been an 8.5/10. idk if it's just listening to different types of music, but very few duds for me, a good amount that sound "the same," and a handful of knockouts that improve the track

the whole update would be worth it alone from lossless

 

I think we won't see the real benefits to spatial until even a year or so from now, when artists and producers are mixing specifically for it and learning more about it and what works.

 

Probably a dumb question but how do you know if it has Dolby or Spatial or if it’s still just the same. Because the few random tracks I’ve heard today all sound better/different

I don’t know what to think of this after listening to a few songs. I don’t think I like the Dolby songs I’ve heard so far. The guitars and bass sound so muted. Listened to a few tracks listed in here. Ocean Avenue didn’t sound better to me. Buddy Holly sounded terrible. It sounded like it was slowed down. I listened to some Selena and those were just lossless and sounded great. Back on the map by Kacey Musgraves sounded terrible in Dolby. I was listening with AirPods pro. And most of this is probably lost on me because my hearing is already terrible.

Sold an old iMac yesterday... spent 4 hours trying to find/download a workable Big Sur (last supported OS) file, then make a bootable USB drive, then install it.... really excited for this feature.

 

The amount of times I’ve gotten Beta happy and later regretted it, so have had to wipe and reinstall everything, pains me. This is a great addition!

 

I’m finding Atmos to be fairly gimmicky, although it’s new to Apple Music and I’m sure that will change after some time.

The fact we’ve gotten Lossless and Atmos before simple features like shared playlists, playlist filters and a good cross device connect like feature baffles me. Although maybe that’s just me.

 

If Apple was smarter than they were they would do pretty much anything to have Apple Music beat out Spotify and the best way to do that is to make sure Spotify doesn't have anything you don't.

 

I have been a big fan of Atmos for a few years. I have a nice Dolby Atmos home theater in my house and it sounds amazing coming through that. Im excited Apple Music has added this. Granted, my system is more set up for movies/TV shows and that mix and master is a whole different monster but agree it will take some time for this to really shine for music. Some of the mixes are better than others while having headphones on. Most of the really good mixes seems to be older classic rock and hip hop/rap. I got the Beatles remastered blu ray for Abbey Road that is 24kbit/Dolby Atmos and that sounds incredible so glad I can just pull it up in Apple Music now.

iPhone X bit the bullet this morning. I don't really want to spend the money on an iPhone Mini 12 (256gb), but after playing around with one at the Apple Store this afternoon, I'm tempted. Is the Apple Store the only place where you can get an unlocked iPhone 12 Mini other than eBay?

 

Technically every iPhone is shipped unlocked but if you want to avoid carriers being dumb then yes the apple store is your best bet

 

iOS 15 beta is solid so far but with the navigation bar on the bottom of safari now i keep thinking I have a notification when I’m in the chorus forums

Think I'm getting the 12 Mini today. My only concern is the battery life but I'm on my phone so often that I'm used to constantly charging my iPhone X anyway, lol.

I do wish I could wait until the iPhone 13 Mini, but alas, my X is completely unusable

Does anyone have a clear case and screen protector recommendation (preferably sold at the Apple Store)?

 

I really wish Apples Radio Shows saved your place. Lose my spot in the Mark Hoppus one so often.

 

I also wish it had chapters and speed options. Just have it be a podcast

I love my Peel case and screen protector. Don't think they're sold at the Apple store though.

Super Thin iPhone 12 Case

 

Went with a 64gb. It'll be the least amount of storage I've had in years, but I suspect I'll make it work.

 

Liking this phone so far but it’s going to be a lonnnggg and treacherous few days while I wait for my case + screen protector to arrive.

 

The 12’s have a Ceramic Shield display now - screen protector not necessary!

 

I have 3 kids age 5 and under - screen protector still necessary.
