Got an Apple Watch SE today. Pretty excited about it but definitely gonna have to figure out how to work it into my life. I wear analog watches most of the time, but at my new job I can’t keep a phone with me so most of my coworkers have smartwatches (working in biotech and GSM phones actually interfere with some of the equipment). It’ll be handy for running too though, since I can stop carrying my phone for music, so I figured it’d be a good purchase.

Had no clue The Athletic app updated to have a “Headlines” widget. Only bummer is there is no scores widget option, but that’s not really what they’re about, so I can understand it. Would still love to see it in a future update.

Experiment #1 for daytime use. All the widget spaces then change via stacks for nighttime. Spark stack is also a listening stack (music, overcast, dark noise).

The idea of changing app icons appealed to me until I read that it has to launch the shortcuts app every single time you tap on one of them. Can’t deal.

  8. Yeah all mine launch actual custom made shortcuts, not just apps. If they ever change that I’ll be in on it though.

  9. I’m actually bummed about the fantastical widget because I really loved the old one. The calendar view that you could tap on to select a date without opening the app was something I used almost every day

  10. It’s still available via the classic widget section in Today view.

Late to this convo but I agree! Love them so much especially for working out, particularly for rock climbing. But yeah the magnetic case is garbage and I wish the case was smaller. But the great part about that is the charge lasts for an insane amount of time in comparison to airpods (at least gen 1, which are the only airpods I own). So I can just go to work and leave the case in my car and just leave the phones on my ears all day.

Only real complaint is they do sometimes hurt my ears but that is rare now and when it does happen I don’t really even notice it.

Is there a decent app for sports app that has a good scores widget?

    Not yet :(

I’m hoping soon. It’ll probably be the only widget change/addition that I make.

  15. There’s a cool soccer one I saw. Forgot the name. And something called The Pennant I think that shows you various standing stats for teams.

I think the soccer one is FotMob. As much as I hate the app itself, I think I’m just looking forward to an ESPN official one. Ideally I kind of envision it being an editable widget where I can choose the data source, so that I can stack it several times and flip between my favorite teams and then all of the other leagues I follow.

Went from a very minimalist 4 app Home Screen that emphasizes a main image to...more images. I always go for a seasonal/animal theme. Wanna get the ghastly app names out of the way though.

Today I learned this a thing for Face ID under Accessibility settings, and I dig it.

I think I figured out that if I can teach shortcuts to multiply the time I walked by 6 and plug that into the calories section this shortcut will be fine. Just not there yet.

  22. Widgeridoo has some really cool widget options. Well designed too.

What a fun word to say too

  24. Can you use "Active Energy" is that the correct number of cals burned? Or does that only show up with an Apple Watch?
