The music app keeps messing with my brain since the library button is towards the right when it used to be on the very left. I love the new playing screen though

 

The only thing I dislike about the music update is that CarPlay now starts from the Listen Now tab instead of my library. I haven’t found that tab to be very useful yet

 

Also my new watch is 5-7 weeks out :(

 

So I break out my pages by topic. This is my finance page and I really dig the setup.

 

Of course, I'm already changing my home screen. Just need an Overcast and a Fantastical widget.

Decided to pick up one of the new sports loops this morning, too.

Would get the braided solo loop, but I think I'd feel 1000% more comfortable buying one once we can go to stores again + do an in-person try-on.

 

i'm gonna be playing with different setups for a while. right now i just have one smart stack with weather, calendar, fitness, and clock (for quick alarm access) - but i also have a shortcut already for my main morning alarms so i'm not sure it's necessary to have both right there. i look forward to other apps creating widgets, i'd love to have a sports stack for my scores/news/fantasy.

 

is apple still planning to release a smaller home pod? i would love one for my desk at home, our main homepod is in the living room and i have an echo dot on my desk now but i don't like it for music. i can't use apple music on it or bluetooth from my phone to it.

 

Definitely going to take me a while to figure out how many pages I want, what I want in the Today view, what I want on the home screens, and where. Lots to think about now.

Hopefully more apps update soon, the widgets really do make me re-think where everything should be and how to use the phone. It's fun, but daunting!

 

i think i'd ideally want my first page to be all widgets - sort of mimicking my modular watch-face, just all the info i would need/want right at quick glance (weather, date, events, fitness, etc.) - and then maybe one row of the apps i go to the most throughout the day, and then have the next page be the "first page" of apps.

 

My kingdom for the first sports app that makes a great widget.

 

need an NBA, MLB, and Yahoo Fantasy stack asap

 

Yahoo could dominate an entire page if they get the widgets right

 

That's what I am kinda leaning toward as well.

Today screen: some information I like to have available, but don't want all the time in my face.

Homescreen 1: Widgets and stuff I would want to see/use anytime I open my phone.

Homescreen 2: very frequently used Apps, maybe one widget at most.

But I'm not quite sure yet, I'll need a fantastical widget before I can see how I'd like to pair a calendar and Things widgets together.

 

I’m always changing between Music and Spotify but iOS 14 has me pretty much all in on Music. Colourful backgrounds, double tapping “search” bringing up the keyboard, bigger album art, nicer album pages. All the subtle changes make a difference. Auto play is nice when I want it to and the full screen on iPadOS is very nice. My only gripe is that the iOS doesn’t have shuffle and repeat toggles on the now playing screen like the iPad/Spotify. I’d also like the heart icon back on that screen for ease of access. Hardly dealbreakers though.

 

the new play screen for music is excellent. this update as a whole is an absolute hit.

 

Music app seems to remember where I paused songs much better. It used to always start the song over again after too much time had gone by.

 

Yeah you can force quit the App and it still remembers. Overdue but happy to have it. Just give me a “connect” like feature and I’ll be a happy camper.

 

My setup right now:

Today: Morning catchup. News, picture of the day, smart home options to start up the house, notes and stock updates.
Homescreen 1: Most common personal apps and weather widget
Homescreen 2: Work apps and ideally a google analytics widget
Homescreen 3: Streaming apps for days kehd
Homescreen 4: Financial apps including Rebills widget and a personal budget keeping widget.
Homescreen 5: Health widgets for water, steps and diet
App Library

 

Can someone explain that first popup? Lots of my apps have had that since I updated.

Any news on when third party widgets will start rolling out?

 

Been on the beta all summer, so the lightning speed of my iPhone XS was pretty shocking when I woke up today.

 

the only one I really want (it it’ll be cool day in hell when it happens) is a Spotify widget

 

Set my back tap so it runs the Shazam shortcut So handy for the amount of times I use Shazam on tv shows.
