I use a 2011 21.5" iMac and really don't have any issues with mine even these days... you'll likely need to upgrade/max out the RAM and maybe even the HD but that's easy and cheap. Crucial US | DRAM, Solid State Drive (SSD) & Memory Upgrades is a great site for that.

 

Thanks! Yeah, I’m gonna max the RAM next week, then figure out a plan for the storage. It’s got a 1TB HDD but I’m thinking about a hybrid drive.

 

Don't you still have to take the screen off to replace the hard drive for the 2011 iMacs? Be careful! I totally ripped a cable while doing that a few years back...

 

That's correct... RAM is super easy at the bottom of the casing, HD is tricky. Best bet may just be external HD boot/storage.

Sadly I have a feeling that whatever the news and TV/Movie stuff is, it won't be launching in the UK at the same time as the U.S - or at lease will pale in comparison offering wise. That's more the UK's issue than Apples though.
