ahh sorry, i was in a middle of a game. i forgot that a combo update will allow someone running say 10.13 to jump to 10.13.5 without doing the update in between. sorry for the misinformation. regardless, if say you find a download for 10.13, that combo will allow you to go to 10.13.6 skipping the others in between.

does it not let you update straight to high sierra when you go apple logo -> software update?

 

So I can't update to High Sierra via the website after all?

And no it doesn't, it opens there App Store but shows no update. High Sierra is gone from the App Store.

No problem. Idk if you have two factor authentication on, but I couldn't actually download it on my system running 10.10 as it wouldn't prompt the six-digit code screen on my Mac. Hopefully you don't run into the same thing.

SO NOWWWWW if you can get that to download, you can do the combo after if you want the last version of high sierra haha.

i wish i had the need for a MacBook. I dont have much time to be on an actual computer outside of my work laptop thats a piece of crap.

 

Is Mojave still buggy and shit? Or good to go?

 

I just got a XS yesterday with an Apple Leather Case and wow, the buttons on this case are WAY better than the just leather buttons on the 6S leather case. Also, getting used to no home button is a breeze and the OLED screen is phenomenal

 

Like....where do I begin with Shortcuts? Are there preconfig's out there that I can look for?

 

Give me apple leather case or give me death. I'm not even a case guy, but I'll never not buy the leather case moving forward.

 

There’s the r/shortcuts subreddit. I dicked around with workflow for a while and created a few I’m proud of like texting my wife an ETA for when I’ll get home, resuming my podcast in overcast, and opening waze for the best route home. Shortcuts made it better as overcast added the ability to actually play the podcast without interacting with my phone. The workflow version I had going I would have to hit “play” in overcast and then Swipe back to the workflow to continue running the commands.

 

The app has some preconfigured ones in the "gallery" tab which is a start, although most of them didn't appeal to me much but they can at least give you some ideas on how they work.

 

I'm trying to get one shortcut that

Pulls how long my drive will be home, texts my gf my ETA and then loads up an app for my drive home. Not having much success so far, but oh well.

 

For me, it just seems a tad overwhelming I guess at the start, but could also be an absolute game changer if/when I master it. I never used workflow before so this is kind of new to me.

I spent way too much of my time scripting a little program for macOS's new Dark Mode. A couple of my favorite apps (Things and Ulysses) already detect when Dark Mode was on, but a few did not ... and of course this website did not know ... so, now, when I turn Dark Mode on, it'll:

Set Alfred to a dark theme
Set TaskPaper to a dark theme
Set TweetBot to a dark theme
Set ReadKit to a dark theme
Quickly turn the forums and the main page of Chorus to my dark theme
And turn on the Dark Mode for Safari extension which darkens Google and a few other website.

I spent way too much time on this over the past few hours and totally didn't do anything else I should have today.

Uh. But it's cool!
