We Tried Really Hard To Beat Face ID—and Failed (So Far)

 

Fought the crowds and was able to play with a X for a little in the store. Swipe up to go home feels so natural.

 

Oh my, Face ID instantly auto filling passwords from iCloud Keychain is a slick addition.

 

I have work in an hour and my phone is still out for delivery. My gf gets home a couple hours after I leave, so I hope they don't come in that 2 hour window. But with my luck they will.
Can't wait to finally have this thing in my hands.

I agree the gestures seem pretty natural with one exception. I read/watched somewhere when you have the multitask window up you can flick the app up to close it but I can’t seem to get that to work. I have to hard press and click the red button. Either I’m an idiot and can’t figure it out or I was lied to and you have to force close with the red button.

Yup. Only draw back to gesture control that I’ve found so far. You can flick them away after pressing one but I’d love to be able to flick the apps away without having to press on one first. I get why that can’t be done though.

 

Oh got it, the flick up can only be done after you’ve hard pressed one. I kept doing it without pressing first and was wondering why the hell they weren’t closing completely. Oh well. Otherwise I’m loving the X. Face ID has worked like a charm. Still trying to get used to the smaller size after having a plus for a few years.

 

Is anyone putting a screen protector on their X?

 

I did yeah. Everyone told me that it was hard to scratch a screen these days unless you really scrape it against something. Well a couple weeks ago I scratched my 7 plus and have no idea how it happened. That convinced me to go back to screen protectors.

 

Haven't been this excited about a phone in quite some time. Really loving this new form factor, and to echo everyone else, all the gestures feel natural.

 

It’s here! But I need to do some work before I can play with it. Food first. Then work. Then playtime.

My phone came 15 minutes before I left for work so I'm so damn excited to get home later. I opened it and played with it for a few minutes and holy hell this is the coolest thing I own.
