Awesome! Thanks so much! I'll for sure look into it and report back.

If they released a magic keyboard with the Touch Bar, would TouchID work with an iMac or device that originally didn't support that?

  4. I'd assume they'd build the T1 chip into the keyboard, so yes.

That potentially would awesome. A whole lot they could do with this. Know it's two different things, but they eventually brought the Force Touchpad as an accessory, so would be great to see this as well.

I doubt it will ever happen but I hope they release a standalone touch bar or even just a standalone touch id sensor so I could use it while my laptop is docked

  7. I'm bummed if they really are out of the monitor business for good. I love, love my iMac, but still always wanted the option to go back to a laptop world -- and Apple cinema displays just look better to me.

Does anyone have the problem where they can't open iMessages or any notification from the Notification Center in iOS 10? Only think I can do is 3D Touch them and it's quite annoying

  9. I would be all over the new MBP if it was like $200-300 cheaper across the board. Would really love to upgrade my 2012 13-inch Air next year but I just can't afford the new Pro at that price.

what is about other displays you don't like? Is it the panel or the appearance?

interesting, I've never liked the bezel size but to each his own I suppose. Anything on the market at all you like? Maybe the Dell ultrasharp series? they're pretty clean looking.

I need a digital consultant. Anyone wanna volunteer? My 2009 MacBook pro is on its last leg and I'm not sure if it's worth (slash if I'm capable of) a massive cleaning in order to get another year or so of decent functioning out of it. I have a work-supplied Windows laptop, so I basically use the MacBook for photos and blogging. Do I get a new MacBook? iPad + keyboard instead? Then where do my photos live? (Need to upgrade my external hard drive also, and figure out if it can back up both personal and work laptops simultaneously, or switch to cloud backup.) Ugh.

Intel is the market leader in chip design, and are one of only a handful of companies that has their own fabrication facilities allowing them to expedite R&D on new products. I don't understand why all of these pundits think Apple can do better than Intel in producing chips for Mac OS. Yes, intel's production cycle has slowed down, and that's largely because we're starting to hit a wall when it comes to what silicon, as a conductor of electrical signals, can do. Apple's pace of improvements in the ARM market is very similar to the early days of x86, and the early-mid 2000s of x86 during the race to 1 Ghz and the introduction of x64 and mutlicore cpus. Other than finding a new material to use to produce these chips, there are no more great hills to climb in the x86 market, we have multicore processors, we're fighting the limits of how small you can make transistors on a silicon substrate, and we've basically reached the limit of how fast you can push electricity through at any kind of reasonable voltage (and therefore power consumption and heat output).

Intel's slow product cycle is an issue of physics, not of design challenge. Apple is not going to be able to step into this market and make chips that can compete with intel's mid to high end offerings, and it would be a mistake to bet the farm on a switch to ARM right when they start to reach the same barriers, especially in a shrinking market.

The problems people have with the new macbook pro, the port layout, the touch bar, the ram limits, these are Apple decisions. They COULD have put 32 GB of ram in the new models if they had been willing to make them a bit thicker for the extra battery that would require, they COULD have included some legacy ports (including a card reader) they COULD have include the touch bar in addition too a standard row of function keys. I don't personally have that much issue with the new models, basically the only things that eerk me are Kaby Lake vs Skylake (which would have required a slight delay in shipping the new models so I can live with it) and /maybe/ the keyboard, but the complaints that others DO have are on apple.

I think (I really hope I'm wrong), my iPod classic has just kicked the bucket. Because Apple have discontinued them, it's dead expensive to get another one.

Are there any other options on the market to have an mp3 player with a large enough capacity to store like ~20,000 songs? I'm not fully down on the whole streaming thing just yet.

    The iPod is dead.

From what I can tell, at this point your only real solution is to get an iPhone with big enough storage; 7's come in 128GB and 256GB's, which would hold all your tracks.

Or you can do the iPod Touch, with it's biggest capacity at 128GB: iPod touch - Technical Specifications
