I’ve always held them as good dudes although I did see Justin lurking on girls profiles on twitter before I deleted it always liking their selfies and shit which gave me creepy old dude vibes. Didn’t think anything this sinister though. Horrible.

sucks, this band meant a lot to a lot of people who believed in them and their ideology.

 

I mean.

Fuck.

Gutted for that fan and that this happened to her. Nobody invites this circumstance and spotlight on themselves willingly.

I truly love the band, but now they’re in the Brand New pile for me.

This sucks.

She mentions that the singer is straight edge and I am pretty sure that Justin is not straight edge at all. He definitely talked about how much he liked beer in interviews.
Maybe thats just a straw I am grasping at. But I wanna make sure it's really him before I draw my conclusions.

 

She says they broke edge together. I don’t know the full history of the guy tbh but a quick google search said he may not have labeled himself edge but there was a time that he didn’t drink.

 

Listened to her account of what happened. I feel awful for her. If this is connected to who people think it is, oof disgusting and horrible.

 

What the hell. I genuinely hope this isn’t true because anti flag has meant more to me than Brand New ever did. But if it’s true, fucking hell. I want to wait for more info but dammit this feels really really awful.

 

So which song did Anti-Flag do with Billy Bragg? Or was it a solo duet song? This is in reference to the woman saying the guy wanted to show her a song he’d just recorded with Bragg.

 

I don’t recall there being any recordings with him but they have performed with him. I recall them saying brandenburg gate was influenced by him as well

 

As someone who got into leftist politics because of that band, this really bums me out.

 

The only connection to Billy brag is that Brandenburg gate acoustic version they mention he liked the song

 

Billy Bragg thing could have been nothing more than a ruse to entice the victim

That's a fucking awful revelation coming to light.

 

I hope none of the rest of the members of the band were aware but if they were, they're complicit in Justin's actions. I love(d) this band, grew up with their music and it has always meant a lot to me so this knews is kind of devastating. Knowing that someone (potentially multiple people from what I am hearing) were harmed by Justin is just... makes me sick tbh

 

Deleting their entire online presence makes me think the band didn’t know.

 

People can know each other for years and don’t really know each other. If Justin committed sexual violence against women, I doubt he would share that with the band.

 

Yeah, I guess we can never really say who knew what in these scenarios short of someone explicitly stating it, but I get the vibe this will be similar to the NFG situation. Don’t believe for a second any of those guys knew what Steve was up to in his spare time, and I have a lot of trouble believing the rest of this band would either.

Then again, I personally would never have suspected Justin of doing this is in the first place, so who fucking knows…

 

I assume the rest of them didn't know but it is also entirely possibly they were at least vaguely aware. Not gonna make any assumptions or judgements on that right now.

 

To be honest, it’s kinda shitty to expect people in a band to know about these things. Like I get that they tour together and whatnot but folks, I cannot stress enough that people do hide things from other people. Like be mad at the person who did these things but unless they actively try to hide that stuff, don’t give them a hard time for things they did not take part in because why should they be blamed for the shitty acts they didn’t commit?

 

To be fair, I don't see anyone directly accusing them of knowing about it. It's more likely they didn't know.

Anyway, fuck Justin. As someone that has been a victim of actions like his, I'm completely devastated that I've been listening to and supporting someone like that. Probably the last band I ever expected to hear this about, especially given the causes they've supported.

 

There are several posts in the past page doing just that, don’t treat me like I’m stupid.
