Yeah because, remember, right off the bat they lose three days as soon as they enter Area X through the Shimmer. So I assume they lose even more time without realizing it as well.

 

No they were plant and human DNA that had merged after being refracted by the Shimmer. They weren't people that had turned into plants.

I just got that impression when she progressively became more plant like and then disappeared. Oh was like oh shit that’s what happened to the rest ! Lol

 

Josie was becoming more plantlike, but we don't find out what exactly she becomes. It appeared as though those were just plants that grew in the shape of humans because of their refracted human DNA.

 

I suppose they could have just helicoptered above the Lighthouse and then parachuted down or something, but I guess storytelling reasons. Or they could've been afraid of taking the risk of putting a helicopter too close to the Shimmer.

 

Imagine some of those monsters with motorized propellers.

The studio really fucked up this one. This could easily turn into a "word-of-mouth cult classic" similar to Get Out.

 

I feel like this is a tough one to market, it's fairly artsy but also needed a big studio budget for the effects, I also feel like I saw a ton of trailers and tv spots so not sure what was wrong marketing wise

I saw this today and absolutely loved it. For me, the hardest scene to watch was the first footage of Kane’s expedition that we saw. Also, the mirroring scene had me in awe.

I’d totally want to go see it again but I’m not sure if I’ll be able to before it leaves theaters, midterms suck lol.

 

This was insane, leaving the theater I felt like Kane and Lena post Shimmer lol

 

I’m reading the second book, and in it they say that the border extends all the way up to the stratosphere and then all the way down to the asthenosphere. So thats an explanation, even though it’s the book not the movie.

 

The second book is so different haha.

 

So this is coming to Netflix in two weeks? Well that’s nice.
