I watched the first episode of the One Piece live action finally and I got to say it was a good opening episode. I think I only watched until like the 15 episode of the anime but I do like how they changed it for the live action.

  2. I don't think people are lying when they say One Piece is worth the thousand episodes and its story is literally the best thing ever, but they're like so obnoxious about it

I think it's the first Netflix anime adaptation to get a second season, so maybe I'll check it out. --The live action, not the anime

I’m thoroughly enjoying the anime so far.

Coming from someone who loves DBZ, Naruto and Bleach (read and watched all of them)

I just was never interested in One Piece, but for some reason it’s clicking at 34 haha. It’s much faster paced than DB(Z) and I love how it doesn’t have to recap for 15 min each episode. They do a short little 1-2 min recap and the rest of the episode is all new.

Reading One Piece is an exponentially faster experience than watching it. And outside of a select amount of fights that take up a tiny fraction of the anime, the animation doesn’t really add much either

This. It would take me years to watch the anime, but I can read 50 chapter in a day.

The second episode killed it too and the chemistry between the three main actors so far is unreal. It literally has me wanting to watch the anime just to catch up and see all the adventures the crew go on.

    Play the Yakuza series

I’ve got to episode 62 of Gintama and it’s so bloody good

I was curious what was going on with Yuru Camp season 3, and saw they announced a new studio was making it, with a new director and writer. The promo art looks odd. Kind of a bummer they’re switching it up because first two seasons are all timers.

Eight Bit is the same studio responsible for Encouragement Of Climb (among other anime I enjoy), so that they're doing Camp now too is hilarious.

I’ve been wanting to watch that but it’s not on any streaming service that I can find. The sequel series is on HIDIVE

pretty crazy that Takashi Miike is doing the Onimusha anime, but I absolutely cannot stand 3D anime

I'm sure we've discussed this before, but what troubles you about 3D anime? Is it that the movement is slower and more deliberate as a result?

My issue with it is it mostly just looks bad and janky.

I mean, as art goes, I find it impossible to believe that someone could consider those characters and backgrounds to be "shit".

The one thing, and what I was trying to say above, is that I think the actual animation in 3D tends to look slower and more deliberate as a result of the style and how the animation is made.

You can call that "janky", I guess, and in some anime movement does look stilted, but I think the better ones it looks less stiff and more just drawn out.

The stiffness in the animation is for sure an issue for me but I also think most 3D animation in anime just looks real bad design wise, especially when compared to 2D so it's usually worse in shows where its mostly 2D and then they throw in a random CG character or thing that not only looks worse than everything else but breaks the cohesion. I've not actually seen the Onimusha show so I can't comment on that specifically.

Looks good! Definitely some of the best looking CG in anime I've seen. I think going all in on the style helps too rather than just throwing 3D models in a 2D anime. I'll watch it.

I don't hate 3D art and will give the show a shot. Just find it lacks fluidity a lot of the times that traditional art allows for.

Do find 3D art has improved though.

The Gantz film was amazing visually. I'd love more anime films that look like that. Also I'm not sure if there's any anime that do a mix of 2D/3D like Spider-Verse/Arcane but I feel like that would work well too. It's only going to get better as time goes on.
