Wow, in the article it says he talks to Mark three or four times a day. Tom has exaggerated their friendship before in the past but if that's true that's awesome

 

That article was a great read. Also confirmed what was theorized - the album was actually finished before the pandemic, and they decided to go back into the studio and rework it.

Makes sense, I doubted Rise would allow for the album to be released in 2020 without the ability to tour. This was a big signing for them and they obviously had big plans for the rollout.

 

I would probably think that's three or four text exchanges a day.

 

Damn, I think I love Restless Souls even though the chorus is exactly like Dry Your Eyes. At least it's not a rip of someone else's song too. It just has such a rad vibe.

This is gonna be cool album. Stoked they're signed to label too.

 

Said I wasn’t going to the tour, and then my friend text me she bought us tickets, lol. Boston seems to be selling well.

 

Restless Souls has grown on me considerably in the last two days. I think it's my second favorite from the album behind Rebel Girl.

 

Tempted to go see to the upcoming AVA tour since I haven’t seen Tom live in a decade (or AVA since the I-Empire days). However, I’m extremely hopefully we’ll get a Box Car Racer tour next year to coincide with the 20th anniversary of their debut and I feel that would be the best possible way to end the drought. Decision, decisions.

 

You never how it’s gonna go with Tom so I’d go with whatever is for sure happening. Aka the AVA tour.

 

I would not bet on a Box Car tour.

 

The man is an enigma. That’s for sure. Can always count on him keeping things interesting.

Alright if the pricing for AVA is fair this option wins. Box Car I’d be 100% there for no matter what. IMO that’s Tom at his peak. Mostly cause he gets a little more to do than he did on Untitled. Obviously gotta let Mark take lead at times. Man, those 2.5 years between Take Off and Untitled were glorious.

 

During the fan club premiere of the last song, everyone in the chat was saying they were from MA. It was odd, so they seemingly have a huge fan base here

 

There will certainly be some sort of Box Car Racer shows. Even if just a few.

 

If anything, I imagine it’d be like… maaaaybe 2 or 3 LA/San Diego shows. And since the AVA tour is happening later this year, rehearsing will definitely take Tom awhile so I see BCR shows being in late 2022, if at all.

But I really only expect there to be a re-release of the album with that “new?” song tacked on.

 

I don't feel too confident about Box Car Racer shows, but I would love it!

 

It takes soooo long for AVA stuff to come to fruition, how is there any confidence in anything Boxcar related lol

 

Travis is super productive so it’ll balance out against Toms lack thereof haha

 

The way Tom butchers singing blink songs live, not sure I want him singing BCR songs…those songs won’t sound the same without the angst. Imagine I feel so or tiny voices with his weird annunciations.

 

I feel like those BCR songs are way too fast for him to sing to but that's just my off the cuff thought. I haven't listened to that album in a while.

Maybe Travis will be the one to make him get his shit together for a couple of shows.

Tom started sounding like ass on that BCR tour and never recovered. If you haven’t listened to any BCR live bootlegs, you’re better off. Haha.

if anything, I think he’d sing the songs better now BUT without the angst and energy as before.

 

I didn't even think of that but I don't think I could listen to Boxcar songs with the AVA inflection haha

Because there's very little effort involved. The songs already exist. Doing a handful of SoCal shows isn't that difficult, and they'll make it work – 20 years is a big deal.
