Big fan of Heroes of the Second Story Walk-Up by The Fun Years but I never really listened to anything else by them. Checking out their new album now and it's pretty good!

 

The fun years are fun

I don’t think any of their stuff has lived up to Heroes but they’re still solid

 

Damn, this is a really good one.

 

First song on the new André 3000 album is great, lol.

 

I’m unbelievably pumped lol

 

The second song is even better! Neat. I’m not some huge Outkast or André person so I’m probably not representative of a lot of the people who will be listening to this, but so far it’s beautiful - far more ambient than jazz with just enough restraint that it doesn’t veer into total new age territory (thankfully). Again, only two songs in, but it could already up there with some of the best ambient I’ve listened to this year

It was a tough year personally/emotionally, so I turned to a lot of chill music to compensate

Catsystem Corp came out with this live recording, which includes vocal clips from Blade Runner and Half Life 2, and its fantastic

 

Harold Budd and Alva Noto made it into my top five. The composer Thomas Newman as well.

 

Basic, but 1/1 was in my top 10 songs. Listened to Music for Airports a lot in the mornings when I was anxious.

 

Grouper was my #1 artist lol

 

For the second year in a row, this apparently was my top song. I am tragically melancholy.

This is really incredible stuff.

 

I celebrate the entire Sachi Kobayashi catalog but I go back to this one a lot

Warmth has a new one out today as well

 

Though I love his first few albums, I sadly have not enjoyed the recent Warmth material. I think the project could use a lot more quality control. He put out an absurd amount of music this year with not much standing out, it’s hard to keep up.
