Dirty Work is better than a lot of people give it credit for, but it is in no way even close to Last Young Renegade

Dirty Work, LYR, Nothing Personal and SWIR are the top tier for me and I give up ranking them beyond that.

Dirty Work has grown on me, sure, but it’s not in a league with the last two albums

I’d for sure agree that it’s not in the same league as Future Hearts cus it’s way way way way better than Future Hearts. Like WAY

(All In fun though I love this band as much as you can love a band. I don’t think they have a bad album.)

Future Hearts is basically the perfected version of ATL's "old sound" with some new elements thrown in.

Yeah, with a hint of what would come later with stuff like The Edge of Tonight

I love like half of it but the other half is on my shortlist of least favorite ATL songs (I never need to hear Kids In the Dark or Runaways live again, and really Don’t You Go to the Edge of Tonight does not do much for me either.

I truly wish I was on everyone else’s level with it.

And I will never ever understand why people hate on Dirty Work so much. I truly think perceptions of the album were fully formed by I Feel Like Dancin alone

I can live with someone not liking Runaways, but Edge of Tonight is a great song and deserves better

If it makes you feel better I considered cutting it off at Dancing With a Wolf. I like Edge of tonight I just don’t go back to it a lot

I think Satellite is a fantastic opener to set the tone for the album, but other than that I think it’s fair to say FH gets off to a bit of a slow start. Still like those first few songs, but they’re maybe a little safe. But then I think Missing You through Bail Me Out is a killer stretch, and they nail the end with the one-two punch of Tonight and Old Scars/Future Hearts. The back half of that album is nearly flawless to me (skipping Dancing With a Wolf, that is).

Dirty Work is fun enough, and the initial disappointment has worn off a bit, but I don’t think it’s as cohesive a record as any of their others, and to me it has fewer highlights. I’ll still play it as a fun, catchy summer album, but it still feels like considerably less than the band is/was capable of.

I guess I have weird opinions on this band because I love Dancing With a Wolf but I think songs like Cinderblock Garden are meh

Satellite is honestly one of my favorite songs on FH.

As much as I love the album, it falls victim to what every ATL album besides LYR falls victim to in that there's 2 or 3 songs I could easily cut and I wouldn't feel like much is missing. Here, it's Something's Gotta Give and Bail Me Out. Easily the weakest and blandest songs IMO. Most of the remaining tracks are top tier ATL though (Old Scars, Cinderblock Garden, Missing You, Edge of Tonight etc.)

I’d only cut Dancing With a Wolf, legitimately dislike that song. But I think the run of Missing You, Cinderblock Garden, and Tidal Waves are all top five ATL songs.

Definitely have come around to LYR. I would put it right below Don’t Panic as my top.
