I think it had more to do with Matt saying he was (and I'm paraphrasing here because I forget his exact words) focusing on blink right now and only blink.

I mean at this rate at best we can get a Trio album would be 2019. You figure blink goes into the studio at the end of the year, releases album in June, summer US tour, then tours Europe in 2019. Mark has been on record saying he wants a new album out every 2 years and if blink's next album is as big then you can bank on another album in 2020. So even 2019 might be wishful thinking.

 

It would be nice if they put out another dvd or B-sides compilation in the meantime. I mean, most of the B-sides since Remains are pretty easy to obtain, but it would be cool to have them all in one place I guess. I dunno. I just want something haha. Didn't they film the Past Live shows? Put that out!

 

As much as I want Matt back doing Trio, Blink can also use a break at this point if the Deluxe Edition of California was any indication. I honestly believe it would be beneficial for Blink, Trio and Matt himself if he takes a Blink break... but obviously it's not up to me

 

I'LL WAIT FOR YOU, MATT.

 

I am fine with whatever Matt wants to do. I want a Trio show though

 

Have we heard anything new from Matt or Dan or anyone from Alkaline's camp or people who work for them or even a crazy drunk on the street I'll take that too

I have always been a bit of a bit-part alk3 fan but my mates loved them. I enjoyed Skibba's side gig Patent Pending.

I know we probably don't know the answer. But would have been interested to know how the whole "i am going to play with blink 182 now" situation played with the rest of the band. Is he giving them a kick-back as they wont be touring with Alk3 as he is making $$$ now?

 

I suspect the reason Dan is touring so much and that Derek has joined his live band is that they're not making much money right now unfortunately

 

Looks like we'll hear more from Matt in next week's Kerrang! magazine.

 

I miss this band so fucking much. I just started my student teaching in January so I wasn't able to make it to any of the Chicago shows and I have been regretting it so much lately.

 

They will be back.

 

Most likely. They haven't been wished back once yet. That means it's possible.

I think it's because the has been silence as far as the status of the band so people are making assumptions. Adding to the fact that blink is going back into the studio at the end of the year it really doesn't leave much time for Trio stuff.

I mean my guess is maybe Trio does a short tour in the fall or maybe heads back into the studio and does an EP and then a short tour after blink finishes their album and before blink goes back on tour.

Just from judging past activity with blink, if blink is heading back into the studio at the end of the year there's going to be a new album out late spring '18 followed by another US tour in the summer and most likely another European tour in 2019. Mark has stated that he wants blink to follow 2 year album cycles so by the end of 2019 blink will probably be back in the studio again followed by a repeat of spring release and summer tours. It really doesn't leave much time for the Trio but I guess it's possible during some of Matt's down time he could squeeze in Trio stuff.

 

I guess. It's all speculation at this point, things can change any given day. Now I heard that Dan, Derek and Matt have been writing Trio material separately but it's just a matter of when they can record. Who knows aha.

 

Bravo! Brilliant news. Guess I cannot count this band out yet, you earthlings never cease to impress me. Guess we won't need that wish after all.

 

As much as I love blink, if the next album is going to sound similar to California and the DXL album then I'm all for blink taking a break and letting Trio record a new album and tour next year.

I just wish the band released a statement just to let people know what's going on. Even if it's a "hey we're working on stuff separately and when Matt has downtime from blink we are headed back into the studio to record and will keep you updated once we know for sure".

Listening to Good Mourning rn. GOAT. Seeing Blink last night made be think about trio...as people in the crowd kept yelling "trio!!!" at Matt, which I'm not exactly sure how he's supposed to respond to that (he ignores it).
