Was hoping for new music after that photo of Derek and Dan came out. He seems pretty confident with these songs so hopefully we get them sooner than later

 

Ah, so Skiba is one of the "back to brunch" crowd re: Biden. Extremely punk rock of him.

 

I feel like the music could be alkaline trio/Heavens meets the strokes. I’m for it.

but yeah “I Can’t Believe” was very clearly about the Trump admin/Trump cultists

 

Also, per Mark Hoppus on his radio show yesterday, Matt is also the guy who takes a shower at the airport before his flight lol.

 

They have showers in airports?

 

this is the first i’m hearing of it. they also probably aren’t flying commercial.

 

The airline lounges usually have showers. My guess is they generally use one airline to gain the best status and based on their status within the airline or through company credit cards (or both) have access to different member lounges that typically have showers, work areas, a bar, TVs, etc.

 

Yeah it’s members lounges. Gus and Mark mentioned that. Mark still thought it was weird. Gus said it’s baller status.

I'm a big ER fan and Dan fan in general.
I'm enjoying this! Same kinda feel as Stay, which should have just been an ER song and not on Is This Thing Cursed.

 

My onnnnly complaint about Dan since and including Party Adjacent is I’m not a big fan of the guitar tones and mixing he seems to prefer these days. I’m not musically sound enough to accurate describe it but I guess it’s just a bit too “noise rock” and heavy distortion and etc. His songs on ITTC had similar guitar sounds to them too.

 

Honestly I think he's just experimenting more, but I did notice it as well.

I noticed the FHTI album title is in white/gray rather than the usual red on these reissue covers. It's an interesting way to set them apart.

 

I agree. As a guitarist and heavy player of Trio.. Dans 1st album was great but it didnt have a lot of electric full band stuff.. the 2nd album I felt could have been so tightly mixed and turned out catchier but it felt like it was a wind tunnel of distortion.
