Im struggling between this or driver to OC for the show at the OBservatory which is a much smaller venue than the Wiltern, which is one of the worst venues and last i checked, it only had balcony seating for them

 

True, just mezzanine stuff left. Never been to the Observatory, how much smaller and what sucks about the Wiltern?

 

Of course the one time a month in 2018 decides to feel like an eternity, it's the same month with an Alkaline Trio on the very last day of it

 

Observatory half size, typically cheaper, can get very close to bands/have a good view from where ever, I know where to park for free, etc. Wiltern is just too big, in a weird crowded part of town, being upstairs for a punk band would be lame, idk. If you can make the drive, I'd say go for observatory.

I was just searching Trio stuff and read Pitchfork's review of FHTI:

"Another comical moment is the bits of Colin Hay vocals that slip into Matt Skiba's singing on "I'm Dying Tomorrow."

Lol there are clearly two different distinct singers. But yes Skiba just completely changed his voice for that song lmao.

Good Mourning was my first album by them and I actually had trouble distinguishing between their voices for my first couple listens

No idea how lol

 

I threw on Good Mourning last night and still to this day I still can't get over how groovy Blue Carolina is. From Dan's bass to Derek's drums are just top notch.

I’m so glad they’re playing it on this tour.

 

There are two songs I’m very sad to hear aren’t being played. Armageddon and Burn. But I am hearing other things that make me happy, so I am sure tomorrow will be awesome

 

Yeah I’m surprised they aren’t playing Armageddon honestly. It’s a crowd pleaser.

Oh me too, it was still killer even though Jarrod couldn't provide that groove. I was on Dan's side so hearing those tasty bass licks in full force was a nice treat.

 

Don’t you dare even joke lol at least I don’t have something as big as a friggin wedding proposal planned for this one

 

Derek and Dan are such a great rhythm section. I sure hope Derek is able to tour with them next time.

 

The only way I could be more pleased with the current set list would be the addition of All on Black and Continental. Other than that it’s basically perfect.

With Warbrain on the set list, I definitely can’t complain.

 

Since I'm totally against Kings Road, my local record store just put in an order for me to get the record and CD next week ! I'm just so fucking excited, I know what I'm doing on my lunch break next week.

Will local record stores get it next week? I see on KR that the date for vinyl is in october likely due to plant issues.....I'd think that would trickle down to records stores as well.

 

You know, that's a good point and I honestly forgot about that. As long as I have the CD I'm good to go.

 

If it's anything like the first two songs than this record will easily be in my top 5.
