Is This Thing Cursed? Sounds legit.

 

Setlist lacks Burn and one or two more A&I songs. Otherwise perfect

 

Yeah I wish they'd play Take Lots With Alcohol and some Agony cuts like Help Me or Calling All Skeletons but I'm pretty happy with the setlist, especially with this being my first Trio show.

 

This sounds dumb but I'm happy they aren't doing Take Lots because Derek is an absolute monster on it.

 

My dream setlist would look something like this

I've never heard "Warbrain" live. I'm going to weep.

Why did I think this came out in October ? Happy I’m wrong !

 

I’m gonna try to hold out on hearing the title track until I see them, but I’ll probably cave in before then.

I imagine it'll vary much less than it would with Derek. I wonder how long Jarrod had to learn songs

 

setlist was the same I believe, from the facebook group posts anyway. Demon and Division hasn't been played on either night, apparently because Matt "wasn't up to it" according to Dan, wonder what the story is there

Idk why it bugs me, but I wish matt would play a black/red jaguar or just bring back his black/red GPC. Especially for Alkaline Trio haha.

 

Jarrod is doing a nice job but the absence of Derek is noticable.

 

Yeah, just saw them twice. Jarrod is a great drummer but he's a lot more aggressive and less technical than Derek. It was a bit jarring at times. Derek's finesse and stellar fills that serve as an accompaniments that make the song sound fuller and even more melodic are greatly missed. Jarrod playing feels like you're getting punched in the chest through out the set.

 

Derek is so much more fluid I wanna say. Jarrod of course isn't bad but yeah you notice his absence

 

Maybe Demon and Division is just high for Matt, and it's not like he's been playing a TON of shows since the surgery.

Luckily, the Sayreville show isn't for another 11 days so maybe he'll be ready by then.
