I enjoy This Addiction well enough but I wouldn't be surprised if it was the quickest song they ever wrote.

 

I feel this way about most of the album. It seems like the reaction to Agony & Irony forced them write a “back to basics” record which I don’t think would’ve happened naturally. I wish they had kept on the path of progression they were on.

 

When Dan did his rankings on the album's he said recording This Addiction just wasn't fun.

 

I love how even Dan and Matt's rankings are every different

 

I love the reasonings as well.

 

I love “the American Scream” but I have not gone back to that record since it came out. Good lord is that record really almost 10 years old?

 

I was thinking about this like yesterday if he said that or not and was too lazy to lookin up his rankings,but it's funny since Matt said it was such a blast and Rock'n'Roll kinda recording and he loved it.Also I remember Dan saying that they were all drinking in different bars in the end of the day and Matt said they were partying together...so...I don't know haha

 

TA has some of dans best song ever. I mean I love dine, dine but something about the rest of the album just doesn't hit me.

Also, Balanced on a shelf might be my favourite dan song ever.

 

Yeah, I wouldn’t say Dine is one of his best but Off the Map, Fine, Kick Rocks, and Those Lungs are great. Fine is maybe my second favorite Dan song behind Burned is the House. Balanced, Broken Wing, and Sun Burns are all way up there as well.

 

Oh forget about burned is the house! Damn that is a sweet song! Top dan and top alk3 as well!

 

Finally! Good takes are slowly making their way back into this thread

The backlash against A&I still pisses me off to this day because I would have enjoyed the natural progression from that record. It was such a solid straight forward rock album.

 

Agreed. When it came out I remember not liking the full thing but it had some jams. Over the years I really started to “get it”. (still can’t stand Love Love, KISS KISS though).

Oh man, imagine if we got a theHELL song or two out of it.

 

I'd also like to see Atom Willard play with Alkaline Trio.
