Streaming equivalent I believe. They sold the 6th most vinyl/cd/digital, but when you factor in how much they attribute as a “sale” to a stream, they drop to 188.

So basically their fans are a bunch of old people that still buy their music and thus don't really stream them and that hurts their billboard numbers? *thinks about how I've listened to this album* Yeah that sounds about right lol

  6. Just got a ticket for the opening show, hoping they keep Warhol on the setlist haha. Wouldn’t mind We’ve Had Enough coming back either

Yeah, I bought two vinyl variants and a CD, but I don't use any streaming services.

Sorry to respond to this days later but is Gaslight Anthem really way more known than Trio? I'm not sure I'd agree with that

Gaslight had a chance to be huge in the 2010's when they had a lot of momentum, but they fizzled out when they went on hiatus. Trio's probably got more fans from longevity & a huge dedicated following who will listen to whatever they put out.

Hmm I felt like Gaslight had surpassed them at some point, very surprised they don't even have 600k monthly listeners on Spotify

A little birdie is telling me we have three unreleased songs coming out

Honestly I don’t care about chart numbers, if I enjoy the album that’s all that matters to me

Three Alk3 or Gaslight Anthem? Can’t tell which band is being referenced at this point in the thread lol

I will say this---I heard Get Hurt on the radio way more than any Alkaline Trio song ever. Help Me made the rounds in some places (it was on the CD at American Eagle for a couple of seasons when I worked there lol), but don't remember it getting near the same play that Get Hurt did.

But could certainly see the Trio being more well known overall just because they were there, even if on the periphery, in the early days of the pop punk/emo explosion. But imagine it's probably close to even.

Don’t discount the Springsteen effect for gaslight, I know multiple older folks who know of gaslight who have no clue who trio is

For a bit there they were heralded as the next big thing for rock music but then yeah, the brakes were punched.

    The intrusive whisper fascinates me

Might not be the best argument, but the local alt-rock station near my hometown played both ALK3 and Gaslight Anthem often. They usually played multiple different ALK3 singles (off the top of my head, This Addiction, American Scream, Wanna Be A Warhol and I think Calling All Skeletons are what I remember them playing) but the only Gaslight they ever played was 45.

That station is what introduced me to ALK3, basically
