This used way more practical effects than I would have expected in a 2024 movie

The first MK film is fun. Just like the 49ers beating down the Chiefs laterrrrrr

They also mention that they’re definitely bringing Fede back, but haven’t closed a deal yet.

  10. I should rewatch this now that it's out on digital. Any physical release date yet?

Hoping this does turn into the same situation that happened with Neil Blomkamp. Has a great idea for a film, then Ridley decides that that he would rather do his own thing, so they move forward with Ridley and ditch Blomkamp.

With how successful this is I highly doubt it.

I mean, whichever way this plays out, I'm gonna watch it - but I definitely think Fede Alvarez pulled off a movie that worked much better as a whole than both Prometheus & Covenant.

that being said, I also know that Ridley Scott is not going to live forever, and I enjoy watching directors leverage decades of success & clout into late-career huge swings for the fences, so

I guess that's all just a long way of saying that I'm excited to see the next Alien movie, unless the next one is an Alien vs Predator thing

After prometheus and covenant I'd much rather see a sequel to Romulus than a sequel to whatever ridley scott was trying to do with the franchise

  20. Give me Scott's mythology back and let Alvarez do the new AvP movie

my assumption would be that the success of Romulus would be enough to get people interested in more Alien films from multiple directors, including Scott, but i also don't know how interested some audiences would be in seeing Scott complete his trilogy (for the record, i would). i'm wondering if what he's developing is that planned third film or something entirely different...

that would completely deflate the demand if it's that frequent. movie-goers can be stupid, and that may be too confusing lol

by multiple directors i meant more than just Fede, so mainly just him and Ridley was what i had in mind. they don't even have to be released remotely near one another, just that renewed interest in the franchise could bring some older ideas to light (i.e. Ridley's third film in his trilogy). part of me would say it could be confusing for audiences to juggle multiple stories, but if other franchises can do it, i'm sure Alien could.

  24. Audiences could absolutely handle a sequel to Romulus and the conclusion to Scott's trilogy, especially if they were spaced out a bit.

case in point, the next Predator movies have nothing to do with Prey and are set in different points in the timeline. plus on the Alien side of things, you have the TV show that'll be set around the same time as the prequels.
