So instead of having an actual conversation about this you want to remain convinced that he did nothing wrong or are somehow justified in listening because instead of doing actual work to learn about the entirety of the situation (not just what pitchfork told you), you'd rather take him at his word? And when challenged you'll just run away, back to reddit or some other place that won't challenge whatever easy to swallow notion you have in your head? Because there's no conversation to be had. You're apparently allowed to disregard published information because it doesn't fit your narrative. If I want to talk to a wall, I have plenty at home.

 

I didn't realize the validity of "published information" (vague) was so iron clad that we were to take it at face value and not challenge it at all. Especially when that "published information" is based on the words of the abuser himself. I'm telling you that there's more to the situation but instead you're choosing to rely on a single article like it's law.

 

Not to mention, that completely ignores the greater context we should be putting this situation in - even if she had given her blessing (she didn't), I want to know why it's then completely okay and you'd be comfortable supporting an artist that assaulted a woman and why the scene should accept them back.

 

But you're disregarding the actual victim here? Like what? The victim literally said this wasn't the case. What more do you need?

 

Caspian is definitely my most anticipated early 2020 release. The museum show they did in Boston this week looked incredible.

 

Yeah there's not like a set list of "rules" you have to follow in who you do or don't listen to so treating it like "well he did x-y-z after so that means it's okay for me!" is a weird way to look at it that makes me really uncomfortable in how people look at morality in general and power structures

But that's a whole other discussion I guess

It does suck seeing so many people hyped up for Pinegrove despite everything; a lot of people I know have been hyped about it and it's depressing

 

On a completely different note not at all meant to detract from that discussion, Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore came out today which means the soundtrack to this game is also out today and is AOTY

 

I was feeling nostalgic so I traded stuff in for the DBZ game instead of Tokyo Mirage, it was probably the wrong choice but idk I wanted to relive my youth

 

I just realized this isn’t the video game thread Dustin had me fooled

 

Just trying to get cheesy soundtracks recognized in AOTY lists here

 

Listen to what you want and feel comfortable listening to, be much more careful and examine your conscience in terms of who you publicly support and give money to.

As an aside, don't post that you're not listening to a band/artist just to be seen as morally credible. Sometimes it's genuine but sometimes it's not. Not thinking in terms of this thread particularly but it's all over this site and online in general. I get you can do something without realising your motives - I've probably done it myself - but the showy aspect of 'moral standards' is really pathetic.

Especially when there's new Holy Fawn music you could be listening to.

Maybe I'm just in a mood (or maybe I'm too spoiled after having spent a week listening to that new Poppy album), but I'm finding myself sadly disappointed with almost every new album I've peeped so far today

 

First: fuck Pinegrove.

Second: Really disappointed in Mest’s album. The title track is the only song I really enjoy and that was the first one they released.
