Not as concise as the gif but definitely more information. Has any of that come into play as far as trying to talk about this subject in other band-specific threads? It definitely can be hard to see something discussed at length where it applies and then just go back to new tour talk or something.

    Re: women in hardcore.

She left the band after getting married so I don't think she's on thier latest release but Household is a very good hardcore/posthardcore band that has or had a non male member.

I didn't see them mentioned, but I believe Year of The Knife has a female bassist if we are talking women in hardcore.

It’s a well meaning intention as far as going into threads and pointing out abusers/toxic behavior/allegations/etc but there’s a way to go about it that a lot of us need to work on, a more tactful approach would yield better results. I’m pretty sure this has been stated above but this thread has moved fast, generally it’s good to point these things out in specific artist threads but a lot of times the initial post is aggressive and paints those discussing it as if they’re complicit with abuse. Some people genuinely don’t know these things so it’s something we all have to work on I think, a more informative approach at first.

I think another issue that can pop up is the slippery slope of drawing your own line BUT that’s more of a case by case basis. It’s a tough thing to navigate, a lot of times people will stop financially supporting an abusive artist but there’s a case to be made that talking about an artist publicly is supporting them. It can slowly degrade into a pissing match as to who’s more woke but we all have at the very least 1 artist who is very problematic that we love.

These last few pages have been a pretty big moment for the site I think. Cooler heads prevailed, I think everyone is on much better terms with each other for the most part and ultimately quite a few users who are much smarter and less long-whinded than me have wrote some very good posts about these things that I’d recommend you to back to and read if you haven’t.

Where we go from here we’ll just have to see

Had not heard about new Super Unison, but count me in!

And for POC in hardcore, some members of Jesus Piece are also in Hell To Pay, who put out a great album earlier this year:

Yeah, we’re definitely getting off topic here, but I think these discussions can/should go hand in hand.

For sure, until scenes become less male dominated things are less likely to change. People should be replacing abusive dudes with non dudes in their listening habits

Not hardcore but Dazey and The Scouts is a really good punk band with female/non-binary members.

Edit: Sorry if this is off topic but I’ll leave it because they’re great and their most recent EP is excellent.

There’s a great UKHC band called Stranded which has Jess, a friend of mine, on guitar. They’re starting to get noticed and are playing Outbreak, a big hardcore thing over here.

  16. so I remember hearing something about this but hadn't heard the whole story, and also initially forgot that he's in Old Gray—was thinking he was just the Sorority Noise guy. I just read more into it and saw the reddit post by the woman, and it's really shitty, and also shitty of Nicole to speak for her friend when she said in her own post that she wasn't comfortable sharing it. really hope Cerce plays some shows on their own but I kinda doubt it. :/

I feel like cutting her some slack because maybe she didn’t see all the stuff Trump said like everyone in America did but idk...really dumb thing for anyone to say. I also didn’t see her original quote though, just headlines, so this is my very uninformed opinion

lol nah you can't escape trump in Canada either, she's definitely seen it all

Yeah... Canada recieves just as much coverage on Trump as the states do. Plus, Shania was married to an American, and I believe has an American child so that cop out of "As a canadian..." is kinda bull.
shania is both a canadian treasure and from the same remote town my family is, so she always held a special place for me, but it sucks to hear her say that.

Though I will say that most people from timmins ontario would vote Trump. She's basically from our version of West Virginia.

the reason why I said that is because the other thread I mentioned is specifically for promoting bands that happen to have minorities in them. This is the accountability thread, where we discuss issues within the industry, hold artists/bands etc accountable regardless of who they are, and discuss what we think re: these issues and how to react to them, among other things/issues.

Women and minorities aren't for like, tokenization/fetishization.

We *should* promote them, they *should* be heard, I just think the 'way' it's being done here and how it's being justified comes across weird.

Similarly, any one of these artists/bands mentioned in here for promotional/recommendation purposes over the past two pages could very well end up being in here again for the wrong reasons, and we need to realize that. That's why something about posting them in here for other purposes comes across a bit off to me. Beyond just having different threads for different reasons.

That's how I'm taking it anyway - it's ok if people disagree with me.
