i do think it's fucked up when people are basically riffing for a couple pages about 'i don't like band' when you have p diddy's involvement in a sex trafficking ring interspersed in said riffing, but if you feel otherwise I guess that's your prerogative

If someone is using their platform to spew hateful rhetoric, I think they absolutely deserve to be called out and held accountable for it. This isn't the first time Eric has done something stupid and had to be held accountable (defending the band Better Off, making that Notes App Apology song, just to name a few). Whether people in here know them or not, or care/do not care about them, the reality is they have a platform, fanbase, and need to learn that using that platform (especially when they aren't just playing small shows only, they have opened some big tours in recent years) comes with a responsibility to not say stupid shit or advocate for violence against people who do not deserve it.

This thread is way more popular than the Heart Attack Man album thread. If even one person sees this who did not know what a shithead Eric is and decides to stop supporting them, then that's a net positive use of talking about it in this thread.

  4. sorry everyone, we can't talk about calls for violence against people that are already struggling because diddy is a predator and how could we possibly talk about both things being fucked up

what are you even talking about??

him defending the rapist/nazi sympathizer in better off is a pertinent use of the thread, I would argue, yes. very different than 'guy posts very bad take and apologizes for it'. anyway, not about to participate in derailing the thread even further than it already was.

e: better off also released a new song yesterday, they are surely ramping up for a new release. dude is incredibly close friends with the nazis in many rooms/whatever fuckin hardcore band her husband was in, forget which and has never denounced these ties, along with the whole incident with them essentially breaking up instead of kicking a rapist out of their band.

I'm not defending the band members and their tweets, but that absolutely wasn't the case when I saw them on the hot mulligan tour. Just a normal crowd doing normal things, no incidents, no fights, no 'edgelords', just average sounding pop punk and a normal mix of the usual fans for an opener - some hardcore fans who purposely got there in time, and others just there because of the timing (like me). I'd never heard of them before Hot Mulligan, and they didn't win me over, but they weren't awful, and their fans didn't turn me off or display any bad behavior.

EDIT - Read the tweet, fuck the statement, but I also don't like to assume that everyone at a show enjoying the music is aware or shares the sentiments of the singer. Often times, a good chunk are there just vibing and really have no idea of any of that stuff.

As an addict, and I’m sure most of the others on here would agree, I’m going to take that shit personal. Then we factor in my family and friends that are also addicts. Fuck anyone with any thought remotely close to that.

Yeah as someone who has battled substance abuse and know people who have fought and continue to fight that battle, the dude from HAM can go fuck himself straight to the next life

I don’t give a shit which thread it takes place in. Who cares? I’m just glad the conversation is happening and the behavior is being addressed in some capacity

Instead of shotrthanding them to "HAM", which looks bold, it should simple be "ham"

I'm very confused about what's happening now. Are they really upset or is this just a weird attempt at marketing? Or both?

I just can’t look at that album cover and not see trippie with 6 fingers on his right hand because one of his dreads looks like a finger

I'm confused too... Is anyone actually mad at anyone or is it a marketing ploy? Who leaked what and for what purpose? Who's the minor lover? Who is... checks notes... trippie? Is Kai laying down the beat on this track and is that sick (cool) or sick (blegch)?

Like, I understand the concept of faux outrage as a method of drawing attention and thus drawing publicity, but...

    1. It sounds like it's going off the rails, and...

    2. I just can't believe they actually typed out official instructions for this. Who does that?

And that's why you always leave a note.

I think I have a better chance at learning how to use TikTok before understanding what's going on here.

    my interpretation is:

op has an issue with their beat getting used in an mgk song and followed the marketing instructions but maybe added some mgk digs in there which sent things off the rails

the presentation of the info is confusing but i may just be dumb and out of the loop
