Thought so. Then yeah I wouldn’t describe Movements as “green enough” to know better.

For the record, I know you weren’t the one stating that.

I am not sure how anyone is surprised....this message board is an echo chamber re:abusers.

WWWY will sell this fest out instantaneously and that is all that they care about.

Also like literally no POCs. Which is surprising after everything that has gone on in the past few years but also not surprising. I don’t know every person in every band on the lineup but it’s just so many cis white folks.

Unrelated to WWWY fest, but still relevant to the thread

When I went to Bristol Rhythm and Roots Reunion this year, the one thing I noted was just how diverse the lineup was. Not just in terms of having a lot of women as headliners, but also with bands featuring POC. For a folk/americana/country festival, that was honestly so surprising. And I mean, if you look at the audience that WWWY fest is catering to, it's gonna be filled with bands with lots of white folks, because they SATURATED the scene when a lot of us were younger. Having Michelle Branch (who is a POC) and The Veronicas on the lineup, as well as Beach Bunny, Tigers Jaw and I think that's it actually? That's really sad in terms of even having WOMEN on the lineup.

Obviously plenty of room for improvement, but Kenny, Magnolia Park, and Gym Class Heroes are on there.

    Things have changed.

5SOS, Sum 41, and Yellowcard all have members with AAPI heritage as well. The drummer of Plain White T's is a Black man. But yes, the number is far too low.

I honestly haven’t heard about this one and i read this thread regularly. what’s their situation?

  14. It’s in the post quoted below — and tbh I think there was even more. Fairly certain a few other women came out too

Does anyone have a good summary of what happened with Pinegrove? I wasn't really involved in the scene when that occurred.

Thanks, and ugh that’s a disappointing one to read. Not sure how I missed it months back.

Evan had an ongoing connection of some sort (I don’t want to misuse or mislabel) with a woman that came from her knowing the band and his music. Specific details slip me, but she said he sexually coerced her more than once and that it was ongoing. Evan made a public statement regarding the situation, the band shelved their album and spent a year not touring. Evan went to therapy according to the band.

Details of why he was the one to first come forward about the situation, instead of the victim, came out in the following weeks. Those revealed that a rep from Punk Talks in Philly had learned of this woman’s sexual coercion from Evan, and utilized it to essentially blackmail and threaten Evan via e-mail that if he didn’t do it himself, she would. I also believe she was exposed for having felt proud and excited to be “the one to take down Pinegrove.”

I think the band made efforts to do right by the victim and hear her requests regarding what the band does next via a mediator between the two parties, but idk the finer details there except that it is no longer happening and the victim has requested to remain private from the public.

Hmmm.....Not to start an argument, but that seems to be a very favorable narrative for Evan. He got two pretty fluffy features from Pitchfork and the New York Times, where the victim made it pretty clear they didn't think he should be touring but kind of gave up because she was exhausted. Also, I believe he had more than one victim.

^other detail there is that there were multiple people that came forward privately about Evan, and we don’t know any of their situations. Yes, attempts may have been made to mediate with this one that got all the attention, but there are multiple unnamed victims and as far as we know Evan has done nothing to make things right with them.

Favorable for Evan how? Because I also included the details about Punk Talks? Fuck em both if you’re wondering where I stand.

Is there anything you can link me to regarding the other victims that came forward cause I’m completely in the dark about that.

I don’t think one ever came forward officially but there are posts from leerkat in the Pinegrove thread about another person Evan abused.

I’m struggling to find anything at the moment, on mobile which probably isn’t helping. Maybe someone else remembers the users involved better than I. But as far as I know it was basically only posted on this forum by friends of the people involved, and a couple users on twitter heavily involved in the local NJ scene as well.
