The fact that both The Front Bottoms and Tiny Moving Parts continued on without taking any sort of break after both had members accused of sexual assault is wild. Say what you want about Pinegrove (and there’s definitely a lot to say about how that was handled, don’t get me wrong), but at least they took SOME time off. Both TFB and TMP took literally no time off, and did not do anything to remove the abusers from their respective bands. I don’t count going to therapy for a week as full accountability, nor is removing said abuser from the band after taking them on more tours and not removing the immediately (plus ignoring the abuser when they reached out and only making a statement through an email list most people probably are not subscribed to).

If this person is still having to speak out about this, over two years since they first made their tweet, then it’s clear they have not received any sort of accountability or closure from either band, and that sucks.

Also I think responding to the survivor when they reach out about your band playing a show with TFB then ghosting them after and playing the show (Sincere Engineer) is shitty.

When We Were Young Fest? More like When We Were Abusers Fest. Sucks to see All Time Low, Saves The Day, etc. continuing to get booked like nothing happened at all.

I'm really surprised that WWWY fest would book all those folks, honestly. People will shout "but NoStAlGiA!!!1111!!!!" but the amount of abusers on the lineup (so far) really surprises me.

yeah, damn. truly this go around seems like way more of a pop disaster. not surprised to see atl so high up but a bit surprised saves the day is already back at it? maybe they never left and i just didn't realize

edit: 30stm, pierce the veil and simple plan as well, among surely many others. this lineup is riddled with grossness

Booking multiple abusers but only three women truly encapsulates the pop punk genre as a whole

Are there any fests that actually care? WWWY doesn’t care, Rolling Loud continually books acts with sexual assault accusations/convictions, and most fests outside of the small niche ones don’t make it a point to care about gender equality on their lineup.

Matty from 1975 said himself he was no longer going to be playing festivals that didn’t have 50/50 gender equality in the lineup…then cue to 2022/2023 they’re back on lineups with majority men.

I tried to go through and list them (was talking to a friend less in the know) and I got:

    30STM
    Pierce The Veil
    Turnover (removed from band)
New Found Glory (removed from band)
    All Time Low
    Saves The Day
The Front Bottoms (removed from band)
    No Pressure

    Any I've missed?

Not direct, but a bunch of them publicly remained friends with JJR and HC immediately following that situation. Turnover, Knuckle Puck, Movements.

Say Anything not necessarily abusive, but definitely problematic for plenty of reasons.

I honestly don’t think movements have been a band long enough to be included with that list. What’s your source for that?

Isn’t Movements the same band that spoke out against sexual assault despite being on tour with A Day To Remember?
