    That’s a great response imo.

They literally have a history of supporting this kind of shit (see: JJR) so, uh, this rings pretty hollow. Also the ATL stuff was huge news and to think he just became aware of it is ridiculous.

  4. I don't know much about the band. It's a nice sentiment, but of course it's always going to sound a little "protecting our ass." So I guess all you can do is see if their actions reflect their words moving forward.

  5. “In no way is that something we condone” is a pretty meaningless, standardized statement to make. If All Time Low was confronted directly, they’d give the same boilerplate schlock. Notice how they avoid saying what the allegations actually are, as to not have to take a firm stance against them or Jack. It’s very easy to say “we don’t like the bad thing” without providing any substance to support an actual understanding of the issue

Sounds like they were confronted with the news of the allegations previously. I know not all bands handle their social medias or look at the replies, but…

My bad. I should have looked into it more before making that post.

why are they even making the response. are they booked on a tour with atl or something?

    Things have changed.

He explains it in the first like 10 seconds of the video.

i still don't get it. he "ran into" jack, did he post a picture of them together online and people justifiably gave them some backlash?

You're good, not gonna blame you for their bullshit. If it were another band without their own history, and connection to the band in question, I would give them the benefit of the doubt.

State Champs, the band who openly mocked a survivor of rape and the people who defender her, can fuck off forever

What are the odds State Champs end up on a show with All Time Low within the next 18 months or so?

What the fuck, did not know this about State Champs. Christ, the closer of their newest album (released this year) makes them come off like “we’re good guys who know the business sucks and a lot of bands are shit and we’re not for it” but I guess they are for it. Bleh.

Yeah they’ve taken JJR out on tour at least once, as recent as 2018 from what I can quickly see

  19. Either did not know or remember this, Jesus Christ

It was the whole “Tumblr Justice” thing. People were calling for JJR’s head for enabling a rapist and threatening people for speaking out and they made a joke out of it

i mean yeah maybe they regret their past actions and are totally against that now, 2018 was 4 years ago thats long enough to learn and grow for sure, but unless they actually acknowledge their past and denounce it its really hard to take their newfound distaste for misbehavior/assault seriously

  22. Yeah that’s kinda why I posted what I did - I’m not really gonna hold the tumblr justice thing against them at this point because that was like... 7 years ago? We were just barely getting into these conversations at that point. The problem though is that the video doesn’t really show growth beyond knowing what they’re “supposed” to say. Just some scripted bs they’re reciting to stay out of trouble without any real substance. Again it’s very easy to denounce universally detested things without actually discussing how they occur, how you unknowingly contribute to them, or what you’ll do to help

The Netflix teen comedy Do Revenge has a really good portrayal of a fake woke misogynist as the antagonist, that's the vibe I was getting from that video. They're using the right words but not acknowledging that they've been part of the problem.

i don't think anyone from the scene actually came out against all time low, a day to remember, or any number of bands with scuzzy members. speaks volumes, tbh
