Like Depp, the law ruled in favor of Adams when the FBI officially cleared him of the underage allegation.

"I was not truthful about my age in my texts and communications with Ryan and I repeatedly told him I was 18,” the accuser told the FBI.

Adams also sold out his Carnegie Hall comeback concert in 10 minutes. Seeing as the underage allegation was the only potential criminal claim made against him, I guess venues and bookers see him as acceptable again since everything else he was accused of was never illegal, just dickish.

The Depp case does set a terrible precedent, with his pal Manson also suing his accusers for defamation

 

A lot of the comments are calling them out for this. Anyone else see this and have good perspective to share?

Not the biggest issue, but "we are striving to be in the spirit of learning" is such a bullshit line, even before you use it for a second time. Not striving to learn, striving to be in the spirit of learning, which apparently means making a choice you know is wrong but feigning a little handwringing first.

Not that it makes their decision or statement suck any less, but someone in the Big Thief album thread did point out that the statement was reused because the original show never happened. This is essentially a make up show, makes sense they’d recycle the same thing

 

so much wrong with this. from the implication that it's tilian's choice to leave, to the "seek professional help" as if being a sex offender is simply a personal weakness, rather than something we all know is wrong, and also criminal.

i mean it's great dgd got rid of tilian but i think the rest of the band really need to do some self reflection on why something like that has now happened to them twice.

 

The way this has happened twice to them specifically and is constantly happening in bands from this scene makes me think they knew this kind of was happening and didn't bother to deal with it. Even in the best read of this situation, we know Will was aware of Tilian with someone underage years ago. They're either aware and actively sweeping things under the rug or so willfully ignorant that they might as well be.

It sucks but that's how it is.
