receiving pushback online != getting cancelled

 

I know some people have criticized her online -- sometimes deserved, sometimes not -- but almost losing her career!?

 

Taylor Swift has never, not once, been in the slightest danger of losing her career

literally. losing part of your fanbase? sure (although i wouldn't call a number of listeners abandoning you getting cancelled). but she's a multimillionaire. if it sells, she still has a career. and even if she did quit music, she's set for life.

 

I deleted my posts. I can't confirm 100% that it's him and @cherrywaves was correct about it being irresponsible. Sorry everyone! I'll think much more carefully next time.

She's getting "cancelled" and "hated" confused. There was definitely a period of time where the internet came after her, mostly pre-reputation

 

i think she views that period as being "cancelled" in light of how it impacted her mental health. even still, if you rebound with just as much of a following, you're not getting "cancelled" the same way others have been in recent years.

Also I haven’t heard the speech but apparently she said it briefly and seemingly in jest, per another comment elsewhere

 

She is most likely referring to the period where Kanye “leaked” that one party recording talking about the song that referenced them having sex or whatever. The public narrative turned on her being a liar and a mean girl, which then led to the Reputation album cycle. I think there is something to using the term “cancelled” here in how women are often the ones actually cancelled or criticized through the actions of men.

Fuck Saves The Day. I’ve been deleting their songs as I find them in my saved song playlist. This just confirms that I don’t want anything to do with them.

 

It sucks that shitty people are able to just go away for a year and come back as if nothing happened without having taken any accountability. It sucks even more that people will just continue to publicly support them when there are soooo many other deserving musicians out there who could use the support.

 

I gotta say, this Depp “trial” feels like the end of accountability, period. Like the collective conscious just said fuck it, it’s okay to be shitty. There’s barely any repercussions anyway for these people, but this seems like a course correction in the worst way.

I had a feeling this wasn’t him - the beginning implies that the singer of the band was fooling around with her friend, and in 2014 Martin was expecting his first kid with his wife.
